Does anyone know? Will we wake up, log in, new profile? Or will there be notice? Seems we will have to edit; choose whether we want our real name displayed, what links we want included, etc. I realize it will happen when and how it does, but I'm just curious.
I had to somewhat shorten my biography, remove links, pick a background (later), choose what hubs I wanted to be in the slideshow, decide if I wanted my real name along with my user name. Then I went to a staff profile, clicked on a top entry to set up my profile. Then the choices were there. By now, you may have updated your profile. Good luck.
I'm curious: Can you upload your own picture for the background? Also wondering what sites can you include in those ones up in the top right corner (Facebook, PinInterest, etc.). What I'm understanding is that you had to change your profile before you went to update it to the new one.
Based on how past site changes have gone, the one should work much the same.
Right now, people have the option to switch their profiles themselves. There were notices starting back in May about this. After a while, the whole site will be updated. Notices get posted to both the site blog and the forums, but a lot of people don't pay attention to the community here so when the final changeover comes, the forums will be flooded with people asking what the heck is going on.
That's the formula that just about any change to layouts or standards on this site has followed.
and complaining that they never knew about it..
I imagine that the updates will change to the blank background, but the bio's may be interesting to see what happens. I've seen profile pages that are almost entirely links.
There are thousands of people (tens of thousands probably) who have signed up to HubPages over the years who did so only to dump links into the bio section for backlinking purposes for their own sites, who then never did anything else on the site. Disabling all of those is one of the actual benefits to killing live links in bios, and this sort of thing probably has something to do with why that change was implemented with this latest update.
The HubPages blog posts announcing the new profile explains how they work and detail the new features.
So switch over and then you'll know firsthand. The alternative is to wait until they force the change on the entire site and find out then.
Good idea, and I was thinking that too. Might as well do it now, it will happen anyway; if I do it now, it will all be set.

I just updated my HubPages profile a couple days ago and in my profile linked to some of my favorite hub topics that I wrote about. Is this bad to do this since on the profile page we have those same hubs randomly come up below? I just don't want overkill but like the thought that I've got my...

I am working on one of my new websites - and I want to link back to my hubs here. How many times is this OK to do on a website page before it is overkill?

I have been thinking about how I can give some of my hubs that receive less traffic more light. On our profiles, we can pick a bunch of hubs that feature in a "gallery" that fades in and out, right under our bios and above the published hubs listed in the bottom section. This year, my...

I was wondering if backlinking my sub domain will help me rank better in the search engines. I was thinking the more backlinks I have the more link juice would flow to my article? Or will backlinking my subdomain only help me rank for my name ie Nexusx2?
