Matt, I checked my just now and show about the same thing. I am getting concerned because a few of these sites are links to pornography sites. This is worrisome. Does any one know if this will effect our Adsense accounts and can we be punished from having so many views from porn sites such as ignatzmice.com?
I just checked my stats and I am all over the place as well.. I apologize for no screen shot as I don't know how to do that..duh.. but this is what I have... I am so lame at this and have no idea what to do....
Well, I guess it's officially a hack of some kind. I'm having the same kind of thing and I see from this thread that I am far from alone.
Both the numbers and the domains are crazy. So who is doing this and why? And I hope somebody is minding the store out there in California and at the fabulous Hubpages HQ. More will be revealed I guess.
Me too! I knew it had to be a mistake when I saw such huge numbers. Then, I thought it would be so cool if instead of negative numbers they were positive numbers. Wouldn't that just be awesome. Oh well, I just got word from a HubPages team member that they are working on identifying and addressing the issue.
Yes, just looking to post a forum for the same problem and saw that you already did. Very weird. I'm wondering myself if the strange traffic sources are linked in some way to the severe drop in traffic that happened to me within the last 48 hours. Interested to see if these 'traffic sources' are the same as others are seeing. Seems strange to have the traffic issue in addition to this glitch - coincidence? fcsh-elearning.edu.pt/ 24 hr traffic 1294205184 honeycreek.us 24 hr traffic -821362176
It seems as the sources are different. Maybe the sites are determined by your personal use on the computer or what you write about? Many of the "traffic sources" are related to my hubs and personal use. Idk, just a thought. Or perhaps your content was linked there? My views are the same as always, no change, a rise perhaps.
Yeah, I've got the same thing. I'm glad it's been reported. If only those numbers were POSITIVE instead of negative... I'm sure this will get worked out, but it's scary looking at crazy traffic patterns...
Glad to see other people are experiencing this, I've got two nonsense sites with millions of hits and my other traffic has been changed too (eg: supposedly only had 100 hits from Google in 2 years), but on individual articles it seems ok
It's like a cycle or something: first it starts with a "-1" page view or low page views. Then, it hits your traffic sources. Then, it hits your stats page. Scaryness. Screenshots might be our friend here. :\
Yes, I would say double-check everything in Google Analytics (if you use that) because it can give you your traffic in real time. So far, mine seem to match up with what's in my "stats" tab, but I'd also get screen shots in case you need to prove your earnings. Some people have reported that they've lost earnings because the page views were skewed. :\
I see I am not alone, I though I was loosing my mind or needed some reading glasses when I saw all these negative numbers, huge numbers, and traffic stats that didn't make any sense to me. Can you imagine me getting over 2billion traffic from one source --- LMAO! On a serious note, I am hoping this is nothing too serious that HP cannot rectify ASAP!
@ sunforged.... can we build one... a glitch that gave us a billion views a day??? I wonder what the highest views per day are from one source? Google must have sites that receive millions of views per day...right?
How weird is that. Same thing with my traffic. First strange things with our earnings and now this. Last night I saw some strange hubs not in English I've never seen that before. That's why they need us for hub hopping but I just can't use the new hopper.

All my numbers are in the negative below these. Strange but true!
Um... I have a question about these weird names and numbers appearing in our traffic sources...
Could these be a weird way of someone out there adding their links somehow to our Hub accounts so that they get named? Are they like backlinks? Are they a blackhat way of adding to some rankings of certain sites out there? Some of the links I have seen here appear random and chaotic.
I hardly think that my biggest traffic source is some guy on Stumbleupon who has linked to me over a million times. I worry about how this might affect earnings to people's hub.
What an interesting situation. I'm new to hubpages and not making money yet, so it won't affect me. I have "lost" several sites that I know I'm getting hits off of on my traffic source page, and added to the page is mister-wong.ru with numbers in the negative hundreds of millions. I'm not going to go see exactly what "mister-wong.ru" is though.
2 days ago I got negative traffic for the first time. I had a -1 from Google india. Yesterday I had a -2 from Google Inida. Today I have these strange sites giving me thousands of postive and negative searches like [Statistics appear normal]: 24 hours
Well, it's okay if it's just a glitch, still, we need an official statement about it in my opinion. On the other hand I am very much worried about the latest problems around hubpages, as during the last 2 weeks we have experienced missing earnings, weird traffic drops, a broken feed (for me it was not working for about 14 hours) and now this. I wonder what will be the next thing and when shall I finish writing to this site - as these stuff do not motivate me to hang around too much lately.
I'm glad to see that many people are not affected with actual traffic problems and that this is just a glitch in the sources page. For me (still having the problem) it coincided with traffic cut 95% and google analysis confirm there is no traffic. It comes down to google giving me nothing. This is day 3. Sites are indexed, no warnings in webmaster tools, but hubs are in the dark- they don't appear when searched for by title or even first paragraph. Only show up by searching the hub URL or my profile URL. Perhaps these problems are not linked as everyone is not experiencing the same, but this is beyond frustrating.
I've got a bunch of these Bizarro World "traffic sources" too. I first noticed something was goofy a couple of days ago when I had a "minus 1" from bing.com, but I didn't think much of it.
Now it shows minus one billion views (!) from a wordpress page, minus 308 million from a Russian site, and minus 547 million from a Spanish news site.
The one I find most worrisome is a minus 13 million from a fellow Hubber's page. Maybe this person has some sort of nasty link in their Hub(s) that is spreading throughout the site? I'm sure not going to click on that link and find out.
So hey, where the heck is a Staff member or some sort of announcement to let us know what the heck is going on?
Well, I'm feeling overlooked that none of the porn sites picked me up. But I'm doing astoundingly well on mass.Facebook, plumbkwik, traffic-acquisition (that one worries me), smartsafelist and madcrazysoldiers. Do the crazy soldiers make up for the lack of interest from porn sites?
I have the same thing and I clicked to see some of the sites. I did not get porn site but some news magazine from India. I wonder if our "friends" from the recent past (I fogot the website name that was steeling our material- lord de cross you were intrigal in stopping them) are at it again. Just this time attacking the site not our work? Possible???
Now that we all know these sites are probably "unwanted traffic", I think this is possible right? It may be a bad idea to follow the strange sources and check them out, if whatever it is they are doing is to bring themselves traffic, they win. If they are trying to spread viruses, worms, or other malware, it'll also make it easier for them.
It seems the stats page is stuck. Although it says it was updated 53 minutes ago, my stats haven't changed in over three hours. I know based on Google Analytics that I've had traffic in the past three hours, so something is again amiss.
@MarleneB Yes, it would've been nice to have positive numbers that high! lmao
Wondering if t his is related: For the first time last week I had to manually enter the data into google so that it would find my new hub... after three days of not being able to find it on google... I entered the data manually. I have never had to do t his before... since then... I have found my hub on google but have only had 1 view... whereas, yahoo search is reporting lots of view.... google seems to not be responding. I am going to have to search google for other hubs that are not performing to see if they show up on google too.
I'm experiencing something similar. In the past 2 weeks Google hits seem to fall behind, meanwhile bing and Yahoo hits are getting higher in my traffic sources. I don't know whether Google did something again that may cause this, but I'm definitely getting interested in this issue. Anyway, thanks for the staff for the solution on our most recent problem!
I think Analytics has always showed something completely different then either the statistics page or the traffic source page. I believe part of the problem is that the stats page is delayed by what HP considers a 24 hour window... each view has its own 24 hour window... whereas Analytics is in real time....
Since getting Analytics Real Time, I have not noticed any major disparity before now. The two seem very similar. One of my accounts had a huge traffic influx for a few days, and both HP stats and Analytics appeared to show the rise at the same time.
Have not seen deep space 9 yet, that's next on the list. Unfortunately, I've watched the shows out of order. I watched Enterprise, then Voyager and then Next Generation. So I haven't been able to clearly compare the evolution of the characters. So far my favorite characters have almost always been the second, security or science officers. Data, Tupac, Seven of Nine, T'Pal.
I used to hate Star Trek lol... I may have to go back and watch the original series. I think Enterprise had to be my favorite although Voyager is a very close second. Just our of curiosity, do you have a favorite?
I love the original... William shatner cracks me up... even when he is being serious... he only has one acting voice and he applies it to everything... he has such arrogence ... it's like Richer... who is so full of himself that it takes a mind reader to take him serious.... and Picard is somewhat like spock... and janeway is some cross between all of them.
ha ha ha!!!! Love it! Indeed, Richer is like the reincarnation of Kirk! lol We were just saying that today, because he always "gets the girl." I love Picard and Janeway. Although I never thought of him that way, you're right, Picard is very much like Spock in many ways. I loved the episode where Picard went to Romulus to talk to Spock because his father had died. You could really see the similarities between them in the scene where they talked privately. Brilliant episode.
I hate to say it but I loved Janeway's voice! lol She was an interesting addition to the line of captains. She brought feminine emotion to her character which added a uniqueness to Voyager.
yes the vulnerable strength... that was Janeway's legacy... I enjoyed all of them... even DS9... although the poor me attitude got to be a bit much... The ferengi were/are interesting and awesome in that they represent the worst of humanity ... profit no matter the cost...
Oh the ferengi, I really dislike them lol. I do find it interesting that they made them a very unappealing race considering, like you said, they are the epitome of worst of humanity. They do a good job of portraying that role, however, because I do despise them! lol They are easily intimidated as well which is an interesting facet of their character. (I hope no one takes offense to this, but my hubby calls them the jews of the alien world lol)
I know, that's why I said I hope nobody gets offended lol
That is really weird, their ears are sooooo gross lmao. Do you remember the episode in Next Generation where Counselor Troi's mom stayed with the Ferengi dude to help her daughter escape? Oh I was so grossed out by that episode. Although, the Ferengi's partner was the actor who played Neelix in voyager.
If it was in the first or second season I may not have seen it, my husband watched those while I was at work. I might have to go back and watch them if the episode isn't in the sixth or seventh season. Sounds like a great episode.
Thankfully, they figure out your earnings from the data that is received from google. Can you imagine the nightmare that this would be causing if our views and impressions matched the current set of issues...
Tammy: you should expect that it will NOT be taken from your income...because they do not figure income based on HP stats... they base income on the data that is received from google...which is verified in house and before payment is issued. Your income comes from google and then passes through HP.
Not sure Alastar. I think my problems started before this glitch. I have a hub that doesn't get a lot of hits. On the 16th this hub suddenly got 945 views in one day and 700 the next day. It normally gets 10 views a day. None of the view sources or Google AdSense showed any of these hits. No one I have talked to knows what to do about this.
That does appear ominous, Tammy. We both know where at least an attempt at an answer should come from. Sometimes a potentially titled topical hub will see a huge spike in hits- like a celeb or movie in the news or whatever and those huge increases not showing up as views is troubling. Analytics was zip too?
It would be next to impossible for HP to match Google in terms of counting impressions and views. It is always better to have an outside accounting of what is measured based on what is paid anyways. I would trust google and refer to that as your chief source of information. HP stats work best to evaluate specific hubs but much of the information is repeated accurately in analytics...
I am still sort of new here and have a question about traffic sources. When I go to my traffic sources I can see hubpage views, google views, etc, but some hubbers actually show up with their hub page ulr. And some are...
Do hubpages show you traffic coming from absolutely everywhere? even from sites like xomba, shetoldme, mashbite etc? just wondering because I seem to be getting ppl reading my articles through mashbite but its not...
