I am making the first contribution: This shows that the world is still full of wonderful people
A Vermont man's rent was paid for him by a Christmas Angel. "Nathan Dubray says someone anonymously sent $1,000 to his landlord on Christmas Eve. The same day, he got a note saying the rent had been paid and wishing him a Merry Christmas and happy holidays. The note was signed "Christmas Angels." The landlord confirms the story. Neither one knows who gave the money."
Here is another piece of good news I found today for the Go Green environment friendly folks here: In Germany the 1&1 Internet which is one of the world's largest web hosts will build its next European data center inside an abandoned nuclear fuel facility.
Once there was an incident on the show "Catchphrase"which made everyone go laughing non-stop. it still makes me cry with laughter. That is one of the funniest things I have ever seen on TV, Start off your Saturday with a laugh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KotjiUQ7e0s
There is a great site called the "Good News Network", and it shares good news about every topic, from health miracles to South African prisioners embracing Yoga. There is a video about the founder. Pretty neat!
Thanks for considering me as your best friend although I would never consider any of my friends "stupid". I guess sometimes we want to say something which comes out in a different way. Here is a small poem for you Selva: With your funny sentence when the situation is tense then can make even sense out of even utter nonsense that is of course the essence of your wonderful presence
Today I was reading about progress made in Rural India where venture capital funding is being channelized to help local inventors/innovators to carry on this task of improving the livelihood of millions of rural Indians. This initiative was started by Professor Anil Gupta from IIM, Ahmedabad. A truly heart warming article.
oK I didn't come up with anything funny but i got something else altogether. A couple suspected their nanny of stealing and set up a nanny cam to catch her red handed and hand her over to the police. But instead of nabbing the thief the nanny cam recorded something else altogether which sent the couple into fear and depression. The couples 3 year old daughter had just recently passed away after a freak drowning in their pool. When the video plays please watch the rocking chair closely. Its a very short quickly taken clip, so when the video plays right from the start watch the rocking chair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtzVCtVZzCM
Is that video for real or is it doctored? Btw if the couple's daughter died then why did they still have a nanny or their had more than one child? The end really freaked me out but yes it was entertaining in a scary way
A very inspiring and well deserved recognition for this young hero. Eight-year-old Brandon Wilson saved toddler in pool. The young Broomfield hero was awarded the Heroism Award yesterday by the Boy Scouts of America and the Denver Area Council.
8 Year old boy Aman from Dehradoon, India could be recognized by Guinness World Records to become the Worlds Youngest Lecturer. His achievement is truly remarkable given the fact that his father is an illiterate scooter-mechanic .
Obama's Green Initiative brings cause for cheer to many: His plan is envisioned to modernize 75 percent of federal buildings and improve energy efficiency in 2 million homes to save consumers billions of dollars on energy bills.
Today was back to a warm Southern California day, so I had a really good one. I worked, and I even got to walk home in the sunshine. I stopped at the store and looked at some crafts to get new ideas, and by the time I got home the moon was rising above the mountains. It was so beautiful and I just had to take pictures, like I like to do. What a great day this was!
I have been to LA (Disney land/Universal Studios) but not the whole of LA so I guess I missed Cajun Pass. So are those winds dangerous? One thing I am really wary of Southern California is the fire hazard in some areas.
The Cajon Pass is farther Inland than LA, but withink an hour of driving. It is the meeting point between the San Bernardino Mountains and San Gabriel Mountains, so anywhere down by the base has pretty strong winds. A few times when people were driving their cars during the high winds they said it was hard to keep their vehicles on the road. We also got really harsh winds like this up on the Rim of the World Highway in the San Bernardino Mountains. The fire danger is not as high right now, it is the higest during the summer and fall. Most of the time it is pretty safe to travel and not worry about fires, unless you are up in the mountains or hills then you should be okay .
That sounds scary if I ever decide to drive in my Civic(small car) there. But the fires I mentioned was in general about that area I have heard about. I guess people who live there are used to it and know how to deal effectively with fire hazards. I would love to visit all those places. Maybe next summer who knows
Sunmola is a philanthropist who doesn't want to be recognized and does his charitable work benefiting so many school children in Nigeria. It is a very nice article which inspires so many to engage in self less social service and surely worth checking out.
Glad you are willing to check out those articles which makes me happy. I actually finished only 10 pages out of the three hundred pages ebook "Unequal Democracy"(I will have to spend more time reading then on hub pages)..hehe
I have just read key parts of it and a few pages here and there, but you do not have to read the whole thing . I only googled it and found it because you wanted more information about the study. What I have read is very interesting though.
Don't get me wrong I also do fast skimming through books but only for fiction whereas for any academic/non fiction stuff I prefer to have a good understanding. I may only read it once then let me do it as best as I can.
Today I came across this article about "The White House Has A Rooftop Vegetable Garden" : This article mentions about the food habits of some of the past Presidents along with President-Elect Obama and some of the Green Initiatives in White House:
Today morning when I was watching the news I thought well another tragic news but the sad news turned into happy news as all the Passengers were safe from the US Airways Jet's Splash Landing on water and termed the "Miracle on the Hudson"
Thanks Cris for that wonderful image(a lot of effort seems to have gone into that). Hopefully Obama achieves the change that we all hope for(I am sure it would require a super effort and hopefully he is a super man to achieve that).
Well in India there is a saying that "when you are in a pit stop digging and then try to come out of it". I guess even if stops the direction in which US and to a certain extent the world is moving in then that would be a great achievement. He has a lot on his plate and hopefully he delivers. I was just reading about the colossal rebuilding that the recently concluded Gaza bombing requires. The world all around needs peace and hope(and for many that is all they are left with).
