So, I got this message when I logged into Google Webmaster Tools: Verification failed for http://winterfate.hubpages.com/ using the Google Analytics method (114 days ago). The Google Analytics tracking code on your site is in the wrong location. You can verify site ownership with the asynchronous snippet placed in the section of your home page.
Am I correct in assuming that Hubpages is supposed to do this, given that they are the site owners? Anyway, any help in solving this issue will be much appreciated.
Try a recheck in WMT, then try this process again.
If the issue persists, please send take and attach a screen shot of the message in Google Webmaster Tools and we can look into it further.
Depending upon the specific error, this may also be playing a factor.
Ahh, that fixed it. Thank you very much Matthew!
(Apparently, my Google+ link was missing just a little something).
