By spotted dick, I'm talking about the dessert of course. I figured since it's been far too long since we've had a dinner party on hubpages, I figured I'd start one. Who wants to join me in having a nice dinner party on hubpages, while dining on this delicious spotted dick that you see in the picture.
Yes please do. It wouldn't be much of a dinner party without refreshments. Besides, spotted dick tastes great with tea.
I like orange spice tea. How about you? What would you recommend?
Hmm that's a good question. I'm kind of partial to green tea myself, but I never tried orange spice tea before.
I might have to try it sometime.
edit: Although I heard lots of cream and sugar in one's tea makes a good combination with spotted dick.
Lol! I want that spotted dick, it looks yummy. Thanks for sharing that delicious spotted dick
Stevennix2001, you are scaring me! But that dick certainly looks hot.
When I first saw the post, I was thinking of SOMETHING ELSE entirely. However, when I saw what you meant, well........I decided to bring some nice cidered tea to the occasion. However, BEFORE dessert, let's have some dinner: 5 roasted capons with oyster and cornbread stuffing, wild rice, peas, buttermilk biscuits, and arugula salad with creamy buttermilk dressing. For creating a musical atmosphere with ambience, we shall play some classical music; perhaps Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky and Ravel and a Fifth of Beethoven. Another good musical piece for the party would be Marian Anderson's arias e.g. Ave Maria.
Sounds like my kind of dinner party. Who's up for some scones?
Good idea! Thanks for helping me organize this whole thing. Now it's a party!
When I was in 5th grade there was a boy in our class who had spent some time in England as a child. One day we went around the room and said our favorite dessert, and of course, he said his favorite was spotted dick. Everyone started snickering, except for me because I was so horribly innocent.
I had no idea what was so funny and kept envisioning British people eating dalmatian-styled dessert.
So there's a random, tangential story for you.
Did anyone remember to bring the custard? You can't eat a large lump of spotted dick without a generous helping of creamy custard.
Oh don't you know it. That's why I came prepared and brought plenty of custard for the spotted dick. Besides, it wouldn't be much of a dinner party without it.
I will definitely have mine with custard. Sounds most delightful!
Will there be Toffee Pops?
I'm not sitting down until I see some Toffee Pops.

Okay...I'm 22...I'm not a parent of any child yet but I have a little sister. She's 9 years old and when I was cooking for dinner I tell her she must eat rice before dessert. But she wanted dessert before rice. I asked her have she eaten rice yet? She said she ate it since 12pm...but that is...
