Hi I'm new and I'm in the process of publishing my first Hub. I've been reading and participating in the forums tonight and I saw a couple of terms and acronyms that I couldn't figure out and was wondering if someone would be nice enough to explain to me.
1. What is backlinking?
2. What is SEO?
I'm really liking this site and I want to continue to create content here and participate with everyone as well as explore others' content for entertainment and inspiration, but I'm so new and know so little. Along with the answers for those two questions...any advice for me?
1. Any clickable link on the internet pointing back to your site. Google frowns on backlink exchanges or forced links. Generally the best way to get backlinks is "organic" ones where people link to your content because it's GOOD and INTERESTING. Backlinks partially help Google decide on how good your content is - think of them like an "endorsement".
2. Search Engine Optimisation. Basically, making sure the words in your titles and subtitles match the things people type into Google on those topics. And avoiding saturated topics like weight loss, acai berries, forex etc. Check out my SEO guide on my profile.
Wow thank you so much for clarifying that for me. Now I at least know what to do or what to prepare for. I wouldn't know how to go about getting people to think about backlinking so I'll just focus on good content and pray the rest will come. I will definitely check out your SEO guide and I would also like to say:
Out of all of the people here on hubpages I never expected you to come reply to this. It's an honor. You are like a living legend here!
HAHAHAHAHA! Rolling on the floor laughing. Living legend. Hehehehe.
Thanks. That made my day!
lol. DuskJackson will go far.
Welcome to hp, DuskJackson.
She is, in fact, a living legend.
Love your new photo WryLilt - are you still writing over at Bubblews. I see your profile says you rarely write here anymore.

When ı search about a topic the first page results are not very high quality material, ordinary stuff. Then what makes them on top page?
