I just tried to save a profile change, but was not allowed to. The message said, "Real Name field must not contain any special characters." The only special character is the period after my middle initial. I've used this form of my name (Ronald E. Franklin) since joining HubPages five years ago, and it's still what appears on my profile. I don't want to drop the middle initial. Can't the period be redefined as an allowable character? Meanwhile, I'm unable to change my profile without changing my name!
I'm not an expert on this but I think that there is no way but to remove the period after letter E. Just my thoughts though.
iwrite100, making the period an allowable character should be a very simple programming change. Since the system has no problem with my old name with the period, and simply won't allow it to be reentered that way, if that one simple change is made to the programming, all will be well.
