It just took 31 seconds to load my top-performing Hub despite my efforts to keep the images lean.
An analysis of the page using GTmetrix.com shows that the page is 2.5 MB with 194 files, which is huge on both counts. Some of the individual files also are huge including base.js at 400 KB, assets.hubstatic.com at 300 KB and a half dozen more javascripts at more than 100 KB.
I understand the need for advanced scripting to produce a highly interactive site. But at the same time Google has been very clear on site speed as a ranking factor.
Any thoughts?
Definitely a concern...however, when I checked my hubs after having read this, it did not take more than a couple of seconds to upload. It remains to be seen whether this slow uploading speed is just a one-off phenomenon or a regular feature.
For the record, I understand that site speed varies from one moment to the next based on how much traffic the site is getting and a person's Internet access.
I just ran the process again. It took 14 seconds this time. But my understanding is that Google recommends 3 seconds.
If you want to check site speed, you need to do so on a browser which has not been used by you recently to access your hubs/niche sites you use and where the cache has been cleared so there is no "storage" online of the basics of that site.
In other words you need to test site load times as if you were a person who came to the site fresh having never ever seen it before.

Having written across of a number of sites, some that did the Google dance before dying a slow death, there's a chilling pattern that unfolds, not only for site owners but for their writers. Owners start by making changes--sometimes huge, time-consuming, expensive ones. Earnings climb and just as...

We've heard several concerns about Hubs getting copied and losing traffic and we know how frustrating this is for the author. Google tries to identify the original content creator and show that in the search results. If you have a copied Hub that is getting outranked in the search...

For only being here a mere 33 some hours, take a step back, review the learning center, work on your content, ( since you have none). Take some time to view those hubbers who have been here quite awhile, put in a lot of effort, stuck through HP's massive changes to battle the ever-changing...

I checked today on this website and found one of Cardisa's recent salad recipes stolen with a dead link to the hub. It is a summary of the hub. I don't know if anything else can be done. It may take traffic away from our site. I have done what I can. I reported it as spam to Google. and someone...
