What happened to the Stellar Guidelines?

I just started a new Hub and the Stellar Guidelines seem to have disappeared?

I won't miss most of them, frankly - but I really, really do miss the word count.

Yeah, they went a couple of weeks ago. I always type up in Scrivener so I know the word count before pasting the text in, but it was nice to see each box get ticked.

Did you check it by coming out and again reloading the page from your statistics page clicking the "edit" button?

Yes, I still see a word count when I do this.

So, no problem. We can still build our hubs that way.

Another thread was started about this a few weeks ago:

They are they. You have to save and refresh apparently.

I still have them.  Use them every time I write or update.

      Hi Marisa,

Most of the advice there was outdated. We do plan to update the guidelines, but decided in the meantime it was better to take it down than misguide new writers.

I think you're talking about something else.  I'm referring to the box at the top right hand corner of a Hub.  That is still there.

I discovered what the problem was.   I did try closing the Hub down and reopening it - that didn't work.  I even tried closing my laptop down completely, then reopening it - that didn't work.

The trick is that the box doesn't appear until you write some text in the Hub.   I started the Hub by pasting in a series of videos and photos, and I was planning to structure the text around them.   It threw me that I couldn't see that section, even though the Hub was quite long (thanks to all the videos).  I've now added one sentence of text, as a test, and sure enough the section is now visible.

Ah, I see, I thought you were referring to a few of the outdated Learning Center entries that we recently took down. Yes, the section is still there but doesn't appear until the article contains, I believe, 100 words of text or so.

Yes, the missing stellar guidelines threw me off when I started a new hub the other day. Other hubbers have given the answer that I eventually discovered. The statistics return after the text is started and the hub is saved and reentered. Strange that this is necessary.

That's really interesting. Unfortunately, I don't recall ever seeing them. Then again, I have only been using this platform for a few months, now.

I just created a new hub yesterday. For some reason the stellar guidelines and word count are only missing when you first start. But when you save your work and go back to finish editing, they reappear.

I miss seeing the word count as I write, too, but it can be seen at the top of your hub after you are done editing.
