Can someone please tell me in simple terms what exactly the RSS feeds are all about? What are they for and whyand where would you use them?
In simplest terms, when you make any update on your site or blog for example when you publish a Hub here and you want to let others know about it the moment it is published, RSS comes into play. Content of the feed could be sent to some web page or as an email. So if someone subscribe to your Hub feed here then every time you publish a Hub he/she will come to know about it. Hope that is clear!
it is packer, thank you! Can you place an RSS feed onto other sites? Such as FaceBook or MySpace?
Yes you can but Facebook, Myspace should allow that. What I mean to say is that Hubpages (for example) is generating the feed but it should be read by Facebook or any other site so that the feed data gets updated there. I am not on myspace and have not explored facebook though I am present there. Sorry couldn't help this time
you helped me quite a bit Packer, thanks!
And thanks to you too, Mezo. That was helpful as well
