People who copy news articles and past them off as there own. The nerve of some people!

If anyone see copied articles please flag them!

a few of mine got listed as duplicate. Why? Not the material(you can't possibly know some of this stuff I write unless you have LEO experience)but because I put a lot of links to help people get needed counseling or whatever. That is seen as highly promotional. I also make quotes, with appropriate links to where I got them at the end of the quote. It still is stamped duplicated...go figure. Guess you can't win. But the system on hub mostly works because ppl do copy a lot of stuff and call it their own, and that does make me mad too.

There's a online plagiarism checker thing. HubPages has it I think.

this is awful and I hope that whoever decides to take credit for work that is not theirs suffers the seven year itch.  I occasionally search my content on copyscape to check for stolen work.  Haven't found any yet but always remain vigilant for this.

Yes, but if they are published somewhere else it's duplicate.
it has to do with the search engines

That seems to be everywhere though, Ive seen duplicate from companies all over the place.

                    Rules suck.

I once had my entire business website copied verbatim by one of my competitors. I sent her an email, and got no response. So I called her and told her to take the content down. She actually said to me, "Lisa, you don't own the internet!" lol

Needless to say, I sent her information on plagiarism and copyright and she finally took it down with very big apologies!

I hate it when people copy my hubs and post them as their own. It happens at least a couple of times a month. It's easy to take care of by filing a report with Google, but it takes time and it's really aggravating. It's even happened here---Like, people write hubs, then they turn up under another name at HP! It's nuts.

I think "hatred" is a rather strong emotion....however I most certainly sympathize with your plight.

I have seen people copy work and post it under the guise that it is their own....I have had work stolen as well.

Certainly infuriating...the only thing you can do is report the content and acknowledge that anybody that engages in these sort of acts lacks any sense of creativity or the ability to form a thought on their own.

I don't feel hatred towards them...I feel sympathy. A sad commentary in and of itself...

To learn more about plagiarism, you may find my hub useful: http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Deal-With-Plagiarism

A few of you on here have read it already I know, and Im not trying to drive traffic to it.... but I think it is (at least was) the only dedicated plagiarism hub on hubpages.

    1. tantrum profile image60
tantrumposted 14 years agoin reply to this

We don't need to go to any hubpage to learn about plagiarism . It's all in Q & A in hubpages.

Tantrum by name, Tantrum by nature, almost every post I have seen from you has been a moan - a lot of people have found my hub useful; so I'm not going to cry about the tantrum not heading my way.

Yep guilty as charged, I can certainly be a moody bugger - hands up for that one, I guess that Tantrum has just ended up in the same places as me a lot today.... but he/she did show a complete sense of humour failure on Pamda Man's satirical thread earlier...

I think that you have most certainly hit the nail completely and fully on the head, I am missing my brains. I graduated last month with a First Class degree by complete fluke; shame that they didn't offer a taught module on the use of smily faces then isn't it? Maybe I would have failed that one?

You don't need to use five identical emoticons to emphasise your current emotion Tantrum, I am fully literate so just telling me that you are laughing is fine. If any doubt does ever arise over my ability to understand a sentence in my native language then the use of just one emoticon will be sufficient wink wink wink wink wink
