My power keeps going out, we are in the middle of another thunder storm. Twice and counting. I'm using my netbook because my laptop batteries are crap and I keep getting booted off with the blackouts. The power in this building is garbage. A little lightning and it goes out. It did this last Sunday night too, now I'm too nervous to go to bed and not have my alarm go off. Hopefully, it'll be over in an hour.

What do you do when your power goes out?

I wrote one my early hubs about that-- think of it as an adventure.

When  I need an alarm I use a kitchen timer. Otherwise  the rooster wakes the dog and the dog wakes me..

I live in a neighborhood that is probably 300 years old. Our wiring and power lines went in god knows when. Because of our coastal location we are prone to lots of nor'easters and blizzards as well as hurricanes. Power loss is a way of life. The records was 11 days because of Hurricane Bob. Luckily the weather was warm.

We just try to take it in stride.

When our power goes out, I get off my tail and try to figure what went wrong with the generator and how do  I get it going again or is it dead  like the doornail and are we going to be sweltering in the heat with no Tv and no Internet for the next 2 months until some money might be coming in if nothing goes wrong and then I can bust my tail to get a wind turbine but then I won't have Internet so how do I find which batteries to buy and how to call them and what was that number and oh hell what the f*** do i do now and this sucks and maybe I could try to get another generator for the meantime but my  credit is shot now so that won't work and crap I hate this world sometimes and I was right in the middle of a Hub and can't even run the fan to cool off my wife a
