what does it do if you click the "perma link" button

    "Perma link" is short for "permanent link". When you click the perma link button, you'll see the URL change.

    Let's say you have a thread that has 1,000 posts in it and you just want to put a link somewhere to the whole thread. You just use the URL that you see. Let's say you want to link to the thread, but you want the link to jump to the 555th post. You would click the 'perma link' button and use that URL to link to. So clicking on that link would open that particular thread and jump to that particular post.
