Text Capsule has really small print when I'm editing

I was happily typing away and when I tried to save it the text capsule went sort of poof. And when it came back the type face when I'm editing is tiny tiny. Looks okay in preview.

Don't think I changed anything before the poof.

    Anyone else seeing this?

I saw it. I was using Google Chrome (which always worked before) and *gronk* my text got smaller. I then tried to save it and lost my text *agony*

I then switched to Firefox (still a small font, which I enlarged), bit I didn't relive the *gronk* this time and I was able to finish my new hub. smile

Sorry you're having problems, but THANK GOD you are, too! I upgraded my OS last night to Windows 7 and when I came online just a few minutes ago to publish a hub I was having all kinds of problem - like you mention - with the text AND Amazon capsules.

The Amazon capsule won't let me paste anything to it - I can't even get a cursor on the line where I would paste something - I click on it and nothing happens.  The text capsule has the small font like you say, but at times won't let me add any text or paste anything from Word!

I though it was a glitch with the new Windows 7, but maybe it's a HubPages glitch (I hope!).  The latter would certainly be better, because I'm liking Windows 7 but was starting to kick myself in the ass for installing it!  I hope this problem gets resolved quickly!

I didn't have small print but everything came out in bold letters.  I couldn't change it, so I let it be.

My Arial font is playing up and everything looks like it's in bold, but it's not just on HP, it's all over the web. So weird.

Have you tried changing the font in the drop down menu, or undo? Maybe subscript is checked or something.

same thing happened to me too. Once it wouldn't save my edits, the second time it wouldn't let me even click in the box. I had to leave the editing stage, then come back a third time to finally get my edits to work.

Okay something's up. I didn't change anything. So I'm not going to change anything to get it back. Things will settle down. Guess I'll just wear some glasses.

Try binoculars or a magnifying glass!

I have different glasses for extreme situations. I usually take my glasses off to work at the computer. I only need them for distance.

I have a half dozen glasses, with different prescriptions, depending on the task at hand. I'm very sensitive to vision issues. But I can certainly understand your perplexity given my avatar.

I wasn't confused at all ... why, anyone can clearly see that the glasses on your avatar are actually x-ray goggles. wink

Has the Text capsule always had a drop-down list next to the spell check with the options: --Format--, Paragraph, Heading 2, Heading 3, Heading 4, and preformatted??  Am I going nuts here?

Okay, well then what does it usually default to?  When I go to edit a text capsule it won't let me type anything - I can't even get my cursor on the window anywhere - can't paste anything either - unless I change that setting to either format or paragraph ..... I never had to do that before.

I'm also finding that I have to save unpublished and then go back into the hub to edit it in order for the Amazon capsule to accept anything.

It's going to take me all night to publish one hub!

Try this: Hold down the CTRL key and press the + button. It'll make your font size larger. Press it again, larger still.

Use the minus to reduce the size.

Holding down the CTRL key and moving the scroll wheel on your mouse will do the same thing. Sometimes that's what happens while you're typing and clicking you can be pressing on that CTRL key while scrolling up or down in your browser window.

I'm familiar with that "tool", Darkside, and unfortunately that's not the problem.  I don't know if you read what was happening to me or not, but there's definitely something more going on and I can't figure out if it's my new OS or if it's HP?  I know you are so full of knowledge, Darkside, I wish that you could figure this out for me!

Something has seriously gone wonky with text capsules.  The type is now miniscule when you edit them, and all other text is an appropriate size.  And the issues only shows up while editing, preview is just fine.

ooops I just started a new post about this.
My text disappears when I save or preview. Pics won't load into photo capsules.

yes, I was editing earlier and saw the small text. it worked, but why is it so small?

  10. yoshi97 profile image57

For me the text is small in Firefox, but it works. As for Google Chrome, it won't do text beoxes at all and it worked fine yesterday.

... and don't make me open Internet Explorer ... life is far too short for me to wait for it to open haha!

    Hi Everyone,

It looks like there is a problem with the Old Text Editor (Version 2).

If you switch to the newest version of the editor (Version 3), the problem with small text will go away.

To switch to Version 3 of the Text Editor do the following:

    1) Go to "my profile"

    2) Select "Edit Profile"

    3) Under Bio, change the Editor to "Version 3"

    4)  Press "Save Changes"

    That will fix your problem.

Thanks Larry! I just finished my hub as you posted this. I found some features did not work with Firefox that did work with Safari. I updated to the new editor just now.

Larry saves the day again! Yay Larry!

In honor of Larry's efforts I was determined to make a bronze statue of his likeness, but uh, I'm all out of bronze.

Now, don't everyone go ahhhhhhh... I have found a close analog.

Currently I'm mixing thirty boxes of banana pudding with six boxes of Nilla wafers and I should have the statue built by the end of the morning. smile

I can find the word "Bio" on that page, but nothing that would count as "Under Bio" and nothing about changing anything.

larryfreemanposted 14 years agoin reply to this

        Hi Earner,

Because of the problem, we turned off Version 2 of the Text Editor (that's why there is no longer a choice).

So, there shouldn't be any more problems with the text size.

If you are still seeing a problem, please post on this thread or start a new one.

        Thanks,

        -Larry

Yes, indeed, Larry:  Thanks!  After struggling with the mini-print to finish a hub that'd been in progress for a couple of days, my solution was going to be "I'll never write another hub!"  I definitely like your solution better.

And it even fixed the "add a link" popup at the same time.  I am definitely impressed.  big_smile
