Is a picture hub allowed, or worth it?

I have pictures I took of Universal Studios Macy's holiday parade. I was thinking of making a hub and displaying them. So the hub would be mostly just a long line of pictures.

Is that allowed? I see nothing about it in the questions page. Does it make sense? Other places have a slide show function, but I guess hubpages does not.

I just thought it would be cool to show off the pictures, I have many from the theme parks. So do you think I should make a hub that is all pictures? hmm

Yes you are allowed, hubpages does have a slideshow function, I dont think that you should make a hub entirely out of pictures but it might be more interesting(and more worthwhile) if you displayed them with some good informative text.

go to the style button iin the photo capsule, click on slideshow.

as ryan suggests, it might be more informative with text, depending on your audience.

Pictures only would be boring but it is allowed.  Make yours a travel type of hub and write about the experience along with the photos.  I did sort of that when I created this hub and it gets lots of views and even earns a few pennies. smile

I have several photo Hubs. I love beautiful women and have chosen some of Hollywood's most fantastic. I didn't use vacationing photos on a Hub. It could be made to a good Hub, but would take a personal point of view to understand the picture. On my Hubs, the photos are the whole reason for being on the Hub. I do have on a few...many Amazon links, possibly too many. roll And, on some Hubs, I only have a few links.

I guess it really depends on your own creative nature. Good luck with it. smile

Shaz123 has some pretty cool photo hubs. Check it out. I love all kinds of photography myself, street and event photography is enjoyable to me. So yea, it might be worth doing.

I would check it out. Especially if you have some kind of memory or short story you wanted to share about the parade that would go along with the photos. I say yes. smile

Thanks for all the replies so far everyone. As for a slide show function I know you can use one, but it still shows all the pictures in the hub too.

I was referring to a slide show where all the pictures are only in the one picture and you push a button to see the next one without them all displayed down the page.

Anyways I'll try to make a lot of text to fill it up, make it a big "Universal Macy's parade" hub. I think many will like the pictures. Thanks! smile

My bad, I see you CAN use the slide show without also showing all the pictures in the page, sorry! Cool, I'll make it tomorrow, thanks again!

I've used extensive photos and informative text on mine.  However, it was not about travel, but rather a comparison between social classes and countries.  I've had good traffic to this one.

I believe the only way your going to find this out is by giving it a try, that"s the fun of Hubbing. big_smile

Yep, I'm going to make it tomorrow. I think I can make it into a nice fun hub. I loved the girls in the parade who wore skin tight candy cane outfits walking on stilts! wink

Hehe I look forward to those pictures tongue

But yeah don't expect massive conversions, you might get some nice traffic though!

Just because there are a lot of pictures doesn't mean you cannot write a lot though!

I have a couple pure picture hubs. It's an easy way to make hubs and get that much more traffic.

    You've given me an idea.

I think I'll make a hub on art. There will be pics - no text.

I have wondered if there are any revenue sharing sites like HP but for pictures instead of writings? Seems like all those picture hubs out there would do better on a site geared to show pictures. I guess you might not be able to grab stuff from the public domain on a site like that but would instead have to go use your camera.

Hi Kirsten. Flixya pretty much serves this purpose, allowing you to earn adsense by uploading pics and competing for traffic from places such as google images (manipulating image file names and descriptions to change ads etc). I have tried this with a few photos without much success at all, may give it another go in the future. Hope that helps.

Well I made the hub. I put a lot of text in it with key words so it should do well. Let me know what you think. smile

Well, it's only been up not one day and I'm on the first page of google for anything like "universal macy's parade pictures".

Ok so that's not exactly big traffic, but it shows that slideshows with some text can rank well. I'm making a Universal Christmas decorations slideshow next. wink

Yes you can have pics but I would tell the story so others understand what they are seeing through the eyes of the photographer which is you.smile

Welcome Bill, Pictures are good no problem, but you need some substance to go along with them. Have fun! smile

I have a bunch of photo hubs, but they all go with text. The text and the images tell a story together.  I never had any flagged by HP -- that I'm aware.

I have a few gardening hubs that are mostly pictures and I haven't been flagged either.  They do get views during spring and just before.

There are a fair number of websites that earn solely from people uploading photos.

99.5% of my hubs have pictures. I just can't do without them, traffic or no traffic. I need them to get my message across. Lots of text and many pictures. Works quite fine for me.
