I think you has to put your own spin on stuff. face it, wif over 100,000 hubbers, somebunny is gonna write about da same stuff as you, so you gots to make it your own somehow. my best score is 81. of course, I only has two hubs, but it's a start wink

I write mostly poetry (Or I did initially). Currently I'm getting very focussed on music, and am trying my hardest to send my music out to the world tongue

I write a few other random things, but it's mainly either music based or poetry smile

My best score was up at 86 but is now at about 78, they fluctuate a bit, but I just don't get the traffic really. Nevermind eh? smile

I write for myself first and then my fans and everything and anyone else follows.
I could care less about making money here.
Hub scores mean nothing when it comes to your real talent as a writer.
I have learned this but if you insist: my highest score was 89.
I lost a lot of points when I had lots of hubs flagged.
my highest individual score on a hub was also in the 80s . . . still is, in fact.
What's different about me is no one knows I'm here and i still stay above 75 when not being "flagged".
The only reason 75 is important is because HP cuts you off whenever you go under 75.
i don't totally understand it and i don't care.  One of the only hubbers who could explain it to you will make it sound like HP pages is saying you suck-lol!
As if you suck at 74 but you are fine at 75-lol

Well I like to write about the troops,.. All though Ive posted some hubs I took some heat on , but its all good. My best scoring hub was about the H1N1 mandatory vaccines on our Troops it got an 86.

By the way thats a great question to ask everyone !!!

the 75 cut off point is understandable only to those who require the functionality that it cuts off.

If your here just to write (and maybe earn here only), it has no bearing to you.

It certainly isnt a writing quality score and I doubt that many have suggested otherwise

    1. readytoescape profile image60

What cuts off at 75, and is that cut off on the individual hub or the hubber?

      1. wsp2469 profile image61
wsp2469posted 14 years agoin reply to this

I won't point fingers but someone with a 90-100 score has a hub and in it s/he states that the cut off is like HPs way of saying your stuff isn't worth reading.
I agree with Sun myself as I have probably been paid to write more than this particular hubber.  maybe it was a poor word choice on this person's part . . . which is funny since s/he considers him/herself to be a writer.

Okay well that answer’s the question as well as Bassmaster magazine articles teach you how to fish.

“The fish are damn sure in the water and if you use one of about 15 different techniques with 47 conflicting lures, By God your gonna catch some fish!”

I was going to write for them once, but I gave away to many real tips.

What does admin cut off @ 75, Ads, pay, your pp, WHAT?

          Crap, now I’m scared.

I don't honestly recall but I don't think it has ever seriously hurt me.  I mean it might influence traffic or something but if people know you're there when you are at 75 they still know you're there when you are a 74.

                Thanks, gamergirl.
I am quoting something from darkside's hub.
some of these other people put their own take on it.
When the Hubber score (AuthorScore) is below 75 all links in all hubs by the author will have nofollow applied (which means no, or very little benefit in search engine rankings).

                Source

We've recently taken the step of applying NOFOLLOW to the links in hubs that have a HubScore below 50*, and to all the hubs of authors with an author score below 75. This negates most of the SEO value of the link. Getting to 40 and 75 isn't too difficult but it requires some participation, and gives us time to ferret out the deviants before they gain much from their behavior.

HC--it wasn't your score that got you noticed.
i think I might have started at the top of the so-called best hubbers and scanned from top to bottom until i found someone who wrote something --GOOD or BAD--that inspired me.
I have yet to read much from any of the so-called best that inspired more than a comment as it was--at the time--mostly, safe stuff, no-brainer stuff, losing wieght, idiot instructions, making money, etc.
What I don't know is when they cut it off/how often they check/that kind of thing.

Let me add something. The above is the ratings on my Hubs' scores. Not my personal Hubscore on my avatar. I have been as high as 91 on my own Hubscore.

I have also had two Hub reach the Hubscore 94 a couple of time, but won't stay in place. I hoped that helped. big_smile

My highest score so far was 85, and I have already written 6 hubs. I learn that scores here suffer the swing from low to high. So I take it against myself when the score dips. I'm not performing that way and really I am. What you do reflects back on you. So if you want your score to soar high, work hard, and you will be glad.

  10. wsp2469 profile image61
    wsp2469posted 14 years ago

Okay.  We have already established that hubscores have little to do with the quality of your writing.
You will find people who cannot properly speak and write English with higher scores than those who can--for example.
If it was only about the writing then grammar and spelling would count for something.

I usually do a search first to see if theres any other hubs about what I want to right about, and I think you'd agree my hubs are'nt your 'run of the mill' topics
I try and engage and establish an audience through forums and not just rely on popularity of topics to educate people

My highest has been 85 so far and was entered in the hubnuggets for christmas week.

I still don’t get the grading system- I can have a hub that gets 100+ views in a day or two-has many individuals comment on it, and the grade is something like 77, but then have another that gets 50 views in a week or two-1 comment and the score is 80+... But my individual hub score changes day to day anywhere lately from 85-94, which also doesn’t appear to have a thing to do with how much traffic I receive/comments I acquire or followers I gain???My hubs are usually 70-85 in their scores (again-that changes daily-hourly)
Makes no sense at all to me. As for cut off? What cuts off at 75?
Am I a good writer? I dont know, I hope so-if not, please someone tell me so I dont appear to be foolish. What makes my hubs worth reading or different from others? I vary in my writing- I write what I feel-what i think- what i know- what i experienced or what i find interesting... I dont write a hub with the frame of mind that I need to write one that will be a success on the scoring system. I actually like knowing what people think of my hubs (whether it is positive or negative feed back)

    I had a hub hit 100.

It is a x-mas hub & it got the score on Dec 12th.
I'm looking real hard at it to see why it has scored insanely higher than my others.
My thinking: it has lots of graphics, several outgoing links, a youtube vid, and because it is seasonal it got traffic from google searches. But, it's had fewer than 500 total views.

I've got a couple other hubs with similar layouts & elements but they are not rating high at all.

    I'm only pretending to understand.

The hubber score cut-off at 75 refers to the the 'follow' on the links in your hub. if your hubber score is 75 or better, than the links in your hubs are 'do-follow', which means google search will add credibility to the sites at the end of your links. If your hubber score is under 75, then the links in your hubs are 'no-follow' and google search ignores them, so the sites they link to don't get any back-link credit from your hub links. But the links still work for your readers.
