We did it HubMobsters, we managed to break last year's record with an amazing 97 hubs published for this year's Valentine's HubMob.   This makes our 2010 Valentine's and Romance hubmob the second one with most hubs ever after the toys hubmob and its 125 hubs. An amazing number of hubs for which our newly appointed rmcrayne created 2  HubMob round up hubs.  Do not forget to check them up, and to vote for your favourite hubs.  Thank you rmcrayne, you have done a fantastic job during your first week

We started last week with the devastating news of the Haitian earthquake which has mobilised people from all over the world willing to aid the victims of the earthquake.  I even received a message on how to donate money for the victims from my mobile phone.  Donation was made simple, just texting the word Haiti to a number and answering yes.  At this point 10$ would be charged to your mobile phone's bill and donate to a charity.  I had never heard of donations being so simple.  I have also received several e mail messages all of them proposing different ways to donate money for the victims of the Haitian earthquake.  However I gather that these type of systems can open the way for several scams.  This is why this week we are going to hub about charities, to get informed of the several legitimate ways that we can help others.

Some ideas for a HubMob hub on charities and community work are:
    Donations
    Volunteering
    Children Charities
    International Charities
    Animal welfare
    Medical research
    Relief of Poverty
    Human Rights
How to recognize a charity scheme from a scam.

To join this week's HubMob please follow the steps below:

    1. YOU MUST START YOUR HUB CLICKING THIS LINK.  Choose the Answer the Request green button.  Choose the MAKE A HUB ABOUT IT option.

    2. Choose a relevant title for your Hub to get a good ranking in the search engines, AVOID starting your title with "Weekly HubMob"

    3. Include the HubMob RSS Feed in your hub: http://hubpages.com/question/35156/hubm … ew&rss

    4. Add the HubMob graphic to your hub so that everyone who reads it will know that it is part of the official HubMob topic of the week.

    5. After you publish your HubMob Hub, come back to the forum and post a link to your hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.  Take advantage of the free publicity!

If you are still not sure about what is a HubMob and the benefits of taking part in one I created this guide, and this other one for those who are still not sure about how to add the hubmob graphic and rss feed

Please feel free to come up with any questions if you have any doubts left. Have a fun week smile

I printed a copy of this page. I have some personal views on donating to charity. I recently joined a donation site, so that I could receive donations to save myself from being homeless.
(Which is coming very soon! EEK!)

In doing so, I have learned a lot about how and why people respond to those who are asking for donations, and those who are willing to give. There are a lot of scammers out there, and you can usually tell who they are. (They ask you to send money
to a second party when they send a donation usually by check.)

I certainly feel sorry for those people in Haiti. I was very glad to see Obama take action immediately, unlike Bush who dragged his feet on the hurricane and new orleans. The amounts of money the charities are getting from this is staggering.
I only hope that the people who really need it will get it.
And, it will not just end up in some corporations pocket.

At any rate, I will post a hub on my views when it is ready to go. In the meantime, visit my profile, and check out my link to
my personal donation site. I'm not twisting anyones arm, but,
if you would like to see my pain, or help me in any way.
      please send me an email.

I do not compare to the sorrow of Haiti. But, I have to live too.

I wrote about how cash donations to charitable organizations can be tax deductible for most people. Additionally, I suggested that understanding this tax deduction can allow some people to make bigger donations should they choose to do so.

Frankly, I wrote about this angle because it is what I have expertise in. Most other things about charities and donations I only know what everyone else knows smile

This is my first attempt at joining a HubMob, so I hope it was at least most right smile

        So, here is mine:

My first contribution to the HubMod is posted and relates to one of my favorite International Charaties: Living Water, International.  Well unfortunately will not be posting seems I was just a little late getting to this topic and have in newspaper terms been scooped.

Scooped infers someone else beat you to the topic, but I only found your hub when I searched "living water international".  For HubMob the problem would be that you published it 4 weeks ago.  You could write a companion piece and benefit from backlinking the hub.  Just don't forget to start any HubMob hub from Princessa's link on her first post on this forum thread.

To rmcrayne: Thanks for the reply. I already checked that link you posted  but I didn't understand whether it was necessary to put graphics already determined by the HubMob and offered to others (looking at other hubbers' hubs, guess not - I put ''my own'' photos in my first two HubMob hubs). This is what confused me:

No. 4 Add the ''HubMob graphic'' to your hub ''so that everyone who reads it will know that it is part of the official HubMob topic of the week''.

rmcrayneposted 14 years agoin reply to this

By all means, put your own pictures pertainent to your hub. It is also preferred that you put one of the hubmob graphics somewhere in the hub.  This week of course there was not an alternate graphic (like the Valentine's graphic last week for Romance Hubmob).  I always put the HubMob (strip, with people/hands up) at the end of my hub text/content, above the comments capsule.

One of the events they organize is 'Relay for life'.
