I am sure there are many of you using both of these avenue to make plenty on Hub pages. In your opinion, as a newbie, should I be focusing on writing hubs that generate traffic or that are optimized for an affiliate program. I guess a third option is both. I am just trying to get a feel of what the people with experience feel if the best way to start out.
Thanks all for any input you have.
Each of us came to HubPages with different plans. Some changed after we got here, some didn't. You are the only one that can decide how to proceed now that you're here. What do you want out of HubPages? Why do you write?
Affiliate schemes can pay out money although if you only have affiliate hubs you won't get a good hubscore.
Adsense gives regular income. Affiliate schemes can be erratic. And unless you're really good at internet marketing then affiliate schemes can be a waste of time.

with my first hub, my experience was much better than squidoo. I like the design here - squidoo is way too busy looking.
