My First $100 Day on Ebay

I just checked yesterday's ebay numbers and found that I had my first $100 day.

October 2009 was my first serious attempt at making ebay money and I was thrilled to make about $90 off of my 30 hubs that month. Prior to that from April to September I made about $10 each month.

So you can grow revenue quickly on ebay - and Amazon as well if you write hubs intended to sell. (Although one sister is writing "How To" hubs for Adsense, and that's turning into a little moneymaker as well.)

Nelle and her sisters now have about 400 ebay hubs. Most days they produce at least 5 hubs. They write a lot of seasonal and special ocassion hubs, so the hubs aren't all cranking at once to make money.

Hungry I suggest you post your hub in the Extreme Hub Makeover forum to get feedback.

This is one of the few places in the forums where you are allowed to post a link to your hubs.

Thank you Maddie. You were my inspiration for my first six months here. I kept saying if Maddie could make $1,000 a month within a year, then I can too. And I did!

Wow, that is truly inspirational! You churn out so much content! Do you ever take a day off?
I don't have my own website so I can't get into Ebay. But I plan to set up a couple of blogs as soon as I finish my travels, and settle down somewhere for probably a year or two (to save up for my next journey!)

Congrats Nelle, now if you could keep this up, you will be a millionaire in no time! Can't wait to see you earnings for march? Did you double last month again?

Mieka you have to understand that I love doing this and it's my idea of fun.

No I don't take many days off. I was so sick with the H1N1 flu this year that I was offline for 3 days, which I think is the longest I've been unplugged in nearly 10 years.

My earnings this month are a little ahead of last month but not double. I do write a lot of seasonal hubs so a lot of Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's stuff died quickly.

You keep cranking out the good news, Nelle. You reported your first $1000 month on HubPages in November; $2,000 month in February; and now, your first $100 day on Ebay.

    Congratulations.

It should be pointed out that you put in a LOT of hard work to get here. It wasn't luck, unless publishing multiple quality hubs every day for an extended period of time is luck.

You inspire a lot of folks around here.

    Thank you.

You earned and deserve the good results.

Congratulations Nelle. That is is fantastic! You really rock! I haven't quite got to grips with the whole internet marketing concept, but I sold 10 items this month with amazon which is a personal best for me! Unfortunately they were small items but no matter, I feel just great!
And its thanks to people like you who show us how it's done.

Congratulations, I am in the process of drafting up some feeder hubs which I am going to primarily promote eBay on, after a disappointing Amazon month.

I have also started going through some hubs and reoptimizing my amazon ads, I noticed products had disappeared completely, and my layout on some of my earlier hubs was shocking to say the least!

My biggest revamp was on my top ten laptop coolers hub, which had loads of adverts creating huge gaps between text, and was generally offputting to the reader.  Now my adverts are more streamlines, more relevant (Not broadbased keywords such as 'Laptop Coolers') and for my efforts I have made a sale within 8 hours of the change big_smile

Good Work Thisisoli. Success in this biz is really experimenting and tweaking until you find what works for you!

On Amazon hubs I've been combining capsules that have exact product listed and capsules that are keyword based. So there's always a product showing within the customers eye range. Even if the exact product goes out of stock.

I'll never forget the day a marketing professor took us to a McDonalds (this was 1974) and made us look around the restaurant. You couldn't look anywhere without see the Golden Arches in your frame of vision.

It is easy to get set in to a comfortable style sometimes, a kick up the bum from an earnings drop is sometimes a great way to fix this!

My old flatmate took an earnings drop from £40,000 down to £10,000 just before Christmas, fortunately his earnings seem to be picking up again soon, which means he might be able to fly over for my wedding in America. Sometimes the earning drops seem to have no rhyme or reason, they are definitely useful as reminders to how vulnerable we are though!

    Nelle Hoxieposted 14 years ago

His earnings dropped right before Xmas? Very scary. Did his traffic drop? A google slap? Merchants go belly up? Or did his content stop converting? Either way that kind of decrease is definitely upsetting.

Yeah he had got used to working a few days a quarter, he had just come back off the mongol rally, and has spent the months after that writing his first book.

He is the first to say his success was mostly luck, but that doesn't stop me from being insanely jealous.  He got in to article writing a few years before me and seemed to hit the sweet point of Digital Point forums (when I got in it was allll going downhill there)

    Nelle

You are an inspiration - you share very openly about your approach to making money and you are so focused.  My Ebay performance is poor because my capsules are totally untargeted and are added as an afterthought to Adsense Hubs.  My EPC with Quality Click Pricing therefore fluctuates between 9c and ZERO!

When its 9c I do OK but I clearly need to raise the quality of my traffic to Ebay with Ebay focused hubs.  Keep on sharing your success with us.  I've learned from you that less is more.  I spend too much time writing 'off topic', adding good pictures and worrying about the look of the page but not focusing on where to place the ad capsules!

Nelle, wow girl, thats awesome! Lets hope the fellers over at ebay decide to start accepting more hub writers as affiliates due to your hard work, that would be huge. I may have to figure out where I can find enough time to figure out how to do a free website with enough content to apply with ebay at some point smile.

My amazon conversion is taking a bit of a dip just now, guess that means I need to write more hubs lol

Congrats Nelle! I so appreciate your sharing all of this knowledge with us all.  HP is more of a hobby for me than a business, but I'm having such fun trying to learn more.  I'm far from a big earner, but my adsense revenue went up from 28cents in February to $2.61 in March.  Small potatoes, I know lol but I figure I must be learning something!

As time goes on, I hope to be able to branch out and turn this into something.  It may be backburnered for now, but writer's like you are a real inspiration! big_smile  And, for now, I'm having an awful lot of fun.

If anyone says they cant make money using HP as a tool they really must take a look at what you have done.

You should be the poster child for earning using HP.

People also need to realize that if you are doing it, Im sure many others are as well.

You really are an inspiration Nelle

Congrats on everything.  I remember our first 100 dollar day, it was exciting as hell.  Before eBay turfed us we actually had a 500 dollar day so I cant wait till you can announce that.

    Cheers

Wow!! Nelle, congratulations! That is awesome! I was JUST over at your gluten-free cake mix hub (which is an amazon hub, and an excellent one) and thinking about how focused your writing is...and wondering if you'd be upset if I emulated you! LOL

Seriously, you are an amazing sales person, your content is excellent, and your work and achievement is really an inspiration to me. Congratulations again, and keep up the great work! I hope they ALL become $100.00 days.

Heh I need to get in to that range again, i was nearing $200 a day in total over christmas, it seems like my niches all drop after that though sad

I am hoping Google organically picks up my health contest hubs over the next few months, otherwise I might have to start promoting tehm to get a bit of an earnings buffer in!

*bows humbly* Yay! Thank you, Nelle. You're a gem...I don't know if I qualify YET for full membership...but by God, I'm gonna try!

I wish you the best on your goal...If you don't mind my asking...any reason for the 166? Do you just like that number? Or do you have a formula you use for projection?

Man, if I could sell $50 per day, I'd be a happy camper!!

Nelle Hoxieposted 14 years agoin reply to this

        $5,010 a month = $167 a day. Sorry I typed the wrong number.  I really want $5000 a month.

I focus on daily goals as well as monthly because that way I ensure that I bust my butt EVERY day. With monthly or weekly goals I might slack up a little.
