It's an often asked question "Where did my hub go?", "Why doesn't Google love me anymore?" after celebrating a first page result.
Another factor is that hubpages promotes new hubs very well. But after that they're going to get links within hubpages based mostly on how well they're doing.
So, to get them to keep ranking you need to get links from outside hubpages as well and interlink them.

I was hoping for another of your "I've been on hubpages for 10 mins and still not rich" type of posts.
I guess they could be related after all. Many people get overly excited about the boost new content gets. Patience is a commodity obviously lacking in the internet world.
