I'm at sixes and sevens once again. Two friends from widely different areas have told me that they sent me messages through my Profile Page where it says "Contact William F. Torpey." However, I have not received them. In fact I have never received a message through hubpages, so now I'm wondering if I missed other messages. Can anyone help me out on this?
I don't know why this is happening, William. I mayself am getting emails ok, but also spam emails through my profile - buy this, sign up for that please...lol
Thanks, Patty. At least I don't have the spam to put up with. I guess every cloud really does have a silver lining. Nevertheless, I hope someone can solve the puzzle. I'm not getting my Yahoo emails from hubpages either, so I may have to use gmail. But I've had Yahoo for a long time without problems, and I'm a little reluctant to get into something new.
I was having this problem getting the newsletter through Yahoo. I switched to my Gmail and everything pops right through. It isn't just with HP. Yahoo is having some major delivery issues lately. I stopped using it for any business at all and use my Gmail and have had no problems at all. Try that and see if it helps.

Once you have created your Gmail account, just go to your profile and edit your email through there. It will automatically be changed through HP.

That's great William! I have always loved my Yahoo mail but lately it has serious issues LOL. Most everything I need to get right away now goes through Gmail. Glad you are on the right track now!
Uh, Oh. I'm getting my email notifications of new hubs on gmail, but I'm still not getting anything from the "Contact William F. Torpey" on my Profile Page. My daughter in Maine sent me a message last night but I received nothing (and I had already changed my HubPages email address to gmail.) Two other people sent me messages through my Profile earlier. Woe is me! Is there a solution to this puzzle?
William, it sounds like a link problem since all other notifications are getting through. You may need to email HP and have them to check it out for ya! Good luck! Hope you get it fixed!

I'll email HubPages and cross my fingers.
Go to your profile page and it will have three catagories for messages.
You will have to activate the ones you want,such as e-mail or messages.
Thanks, flread45. The only three categories I see are these:
Allow HubPages to contact you?
Allow other users to contact you?
Receive email from your favorite authors?
I have had these three options checked off all along.
This seems to mean that only 1) Hubpages 2) users 3) authors ... can contact me though my Profile Page. In other words, my personal friends or people who find my hubs on Google or elsewhere are not able to contact me through HubPages unless they sign in to become hubbers. Could that be possible? I sometimes see comments on hubs from people who do not appear to be members of HubPages ... so that would indicate people are able comment even though they are not members of HubPages.
I just received an email from HubPages asking me to verify my new email address. It seems I should have received this email earlier, but it must have been one of those emails I never got. I'm hoping that this will resolve my problem with the "contact" feature on my Profile Page. I appreciate all the help I've received here.

I have enabled all HP options for receiving email. I am getting no email messages except the weekly HP email sent by HP. My email server is comcast. Any suggestions or thoughts?
