What does horror mean to you?

Horror to me is the creation of something to scare the hell out of somebody. To rise the excitement and suspicion of the human mind and emotion.

Since I'm under the impression you mean "horror in writing and movies, etc.", I'll say that horror in writing, movies, etc. is something (to be candid, and no offense intended here) I think of as "mostly for kids and any adults who have been fortunate enough not to have lived through real-life horror, and who want/need some excitement/adrenaline."

Anyone who has had to go through real-life horror knows it isn't glamorous or exciting.  It's - well - horrible.  Watching (or knowing) someone is harming our children, watching someone suffer with devastating disease, knowing people are victimized by violent crime, living through war, dying in war, starving people, having someone close lose a child, etc. etc.

So, for me, seeing that a movie (or whatever) is a horror movie means I'll be heading for department that sells Disney movies and chic flicks.  lol  I'm all about trying to get over past horrors and aiming not to ever experience horror again.

Quite the emotional response Lisa HW, thanks for commenting and I'm glad I posted this topic.

It wasn't meant to be emotional - only cool, calm, and candid.   smile

You're being facetious [look it up], right?  Some might say golf or baseball are much 'slower'..action-wise.  Whereas hockey is very fast-paced.

        Flyers vs. Blackhawks...any bets? smile

        I think we're getting off-topic anywho...what was it about?
        Oh yeah, horror.

Oh, the damnation!  The suffering beyond esquisite belief pays no hommage to the soul of man!  The grief afar any measure of recompense tears the heart of every good human being!  The universal crime against all life, creation and yes, even all matter itself is but at the mercy of the smallest of details.  Hark!  All ye nations of this orb of blue angel's tear!  Beware of the patriarch crime of crimes that it may never be entertained, indulged or molested.

Behold, my fellow citizens!  The crime of all that was, is and will yet be is the systematic and total destruction of all chocolate!  Wo, unto all inhabitants of the Earth!  Wo - and let it not be.  For it is unforgiveable!

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or better known as PTSD.  I don't think people truly understand horror, until they have suffered the outcomes that can cause this ailment of the mind.  PTSD........., truly horrific.

Very funny MrD, that does seem like a new category of horror.

IntimatEvolution, i like your point of view, that indeed is a truly horrific disorder to endure.......
