Not heard much about this over the last few days, but I would love for you guys taking part in the Hubtrail to keep us all updated!

Not really had a chance to take part yet due to personal projects but I would like to know how this goes for traffic and earnings!

      Wow Oli thanks for asking!
I am really happy to see so much participation in the Hubtrail project.
I have noticed in increase in traffic and a lot og it seems to be coming from Yahoo. a few clickers but not many yet. I am sure that will come with time.

All I know is FD published her Hubtrail hub today. And it's worth knowing. smile

I have talked with several people who are involved with Hubtrail and recently seen a peak in their views on their hubs. I did not ask nor did I want to know if it was making them any money.

What they make is their business and completely up to them if they care to share.

I only wanted to know if traffic had increased and the answer for some is yes. wink

How are the RSS items being pulled into the hubtrailtravelguide site?  I assume it is a widget, but not sure which one.

  5. Cagsil profile image70
    Cagsilposted 13 years ago

    Hey Mutiny,

The Hubs are being pulled into HubtrailTravelGuide.com via tags on the RSS feed. smile

  6. Mutiny92 profile image64
    Mutiny92posted 13 years ago

I saw that they were but was looking for the widget (or the specifics) on how.

I think you mean a plugin, not a widget.

I'm using wp-o-matic to pick up the RSS feeds, one for each continent tag. I'm using the "latest" option.

Hey FD...I just had a quick look and one of your Portugal hubs is showing up in the UrbanChaos Wiki site so your tags are right!

  9. travelespresso profile image68
    travelespressoposted 13 years ago

I've noticed a definite increase in traffic to my hubs since I included them in the hubtrail.  It's been good to have extra exposure for existing hubs via the various sites - Ohma's, Haunty, Marisa and UrbanChaos (Wiki)and get the new hubs off to a flying start.

Nice to see a wider variety of traffic sources too.

Money....well that's yet to come for me!!!  I'd love some advice on how to turn my travel hubs into cash!

  10. Cagsil profile image70
    Cagsilposted 13 years ago

    Hey Travelespresso,

I think you could use more targeted keywords. I notice on a lot of hubs(I'm guilty too), to generalize our words.

Target them to be more specific.

    (a) vacation planning
    (b) travel plans
    (c) weekend getaway

Things like that. Target the words people will use to search. wink

One small note on a hub for Hubtrails.

If you would like to be placed on the map an address would be helpful in the hub.

Either that or at least the city the site is located in.

It is very hard to find a Kirk's Beach in Pennsylvania (example)without some idea where it is.

This becomes quite a daunting task globally.

    1. Cagsil profile image70
Cagsilposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Hey Arthur, just group them together by location, then only input so many in a day. Do not overwork yourself. Remember, to have fun doing it. I know a bundle of work can seem like a huge task, but break it down into manageable components, so it is within your ability to take care of.

Again, do not push yourself. wink

The only problem I have is every time I scroll on my PC it takes forever for the map to load.  It takes forever to scan California to see if a particular town is even on the map.

Yes....I know what you mean.  I've read through a few hubs about great sounding places and I have NO idea where in the world they are.  Sometimes, I've just guessed that they're in America because that's where the author comes from.

I hope that we all write our travel hubs with this key point in mind Arthur.

You are doing a great job and the map makes a huge difference to the visual picture of which part of the world we've all written about.

Cags, I think I was not clear.  I am curious on the mechanism on the hubtrailstravelguide web site that shows the line items of the RSS feed.  I know it pulls in the appropriate RSS, but I do not know how those are being imported into the wordpress site (what widget or other software shows the RSS in that manner).  sorry...

    1. Cagsil profile image70
Cagsilposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Oh on Wordpress? I see. I believe it has to be through a widget. Yes.

Example:(this will feed the widget you make.)

      http://hubpages.com/tag/hubtrail-capstone/hot/?rss

Make any changes you choose to it. Like, if you want a specific locale. wink

      I hope that helped. smile
