I have the Broken Link symbol and I went to the hub to check it out. In Edit mode the message 2 possible broken links detected.
I go through all links since nothing was "highlighted in yellow" on page. One link tested bad, so I deleted it. Since it is an important link, I pasted the exact link from the hub into address bar and opened the site.
I tried to add it again to the hub and hit test---comes back "bad link."
Has anyone had this to happen before? Hp say link is bad, but in reality the link is Good!
And still have the bad link symbol on account page.
I went back and added the link, clicked on it and it worked. But Hub still calls it a bad link. Hmmm, link is affiliated with ESPN, so I know it is a reputable link. But still no idea why the message says 2 broken links when everything is working.
Sometimes the broken link checker throws up false results.
I have a similar thing with the little green bug - which indicates a link to a phishing site. I don't have any links to external sites on my Hub, so I concluded it must be a link in a commenter's name.
I've now gone through and deleted all the comments that had a website link in the commenter's name, so there isn't one external link left on the Hub. But the little green bug won't go away!
Thanks Marisa. Guess it is a glitch. lol I thought is was weird that it would say bad links and then No link highlighted. Maybe the symbol will go away soon also.
I had the same thing happen, Michael. After a few months, the broken link symbol (finally) went away.
Months? Wow. lol I hope not that long. As long as it doesn't affect my standing with SEO, I guess I can live with that.
Hi Michael,
We have a page that can be used to "retest" links and to "ignore" links.
You can find it here:
http://hubpages.com/my/badlinks
If you click on "retest", you can see if the page is good or not. If you still want to include the link, you can hit "ignore" to remove the warnings.

Thanks Larry. That link was helpful. The retest kept saying the link was bad, but I could hit the all the links on my page and they went to where they were linked to. So, I just hit the "ignore" and the symbol went away.
I get the broken links symbol for youtube videos quite often - I used to check the videos to make sure they were still up, since they always were, i just started ignoring the symbols often they would just go away.
I hit the ignore on the broken link page and the symbol went away. it is weird that it showed up and I couldn't even find it on my hub. And then I checked all links and they were just fine.
At least I got rid of the broken link symbol.

It's not professional, and readers are getting a false impression. Has anyone heard why false YT broken links report this keep happening?

I have a YouTube video at the bottom of a hub which used to be viewable, but now is not. However, the introductory still picture still shows up and it is very pertinent to the subject. It is of a piece of art that was auctioned at a record breaking price. The question is: is it all right to leave...

Have you had this happen to you? I searched for the highlighted broken link but I could not find one. So how do you clear the notice?

Two of my articles on PetHelpful are showing as having broken links. In the first instance, when I look at the article, the link is a picture. This link http://www.sxc.hu/photo/679862 is showing as broken but is in fact clearly showing as a black cat drinking so I think this may be a 'glitch'? In...

We just made a small update to the site. The biggest change is the addition of the broken link report. It will show you broken links in your text and link capsules. We'll be trying to test all links about once a week, and re-test broken links every 24 hours or so. A link could be...

I had six hubs showing broken links yesterday. I corrected all of them, but two are still showing the broken link icon. And, the edit date hasn't updated. Anyone else seeing this?
