The way to make money on hubpages is by publishing your own original stories, articles and so on. You can then place advertising on the pages that accompany the articles.
The most common ones are Google Adsense, Ebay, and Amazon associates programs. Some of these you can sign up for immediately, others you will have to give your articles time to get a following and build up traffic.
Please take note of the policies of hubpages, there are some subjects that are forbidden, pretty much that follows the Google Adsense policy.
