Just wondering there are any in-depth guides to using the "table" capsule out there. I couldn't find one on the search.
In particular - there's a box to check that says "Allow sorting" or something like that. How does it work? I'm assuming it means numerical or alphabetical sorting but couldn't figure out how...
Thanks for any advice!
Sorting will help you decide which column should be given prominence; so you sort one column and the others will follow.
You will find some general information near the bottom of this page:
http://blog.hubpages.com/category/new-features/
Indeed, they were announcing that feature to be added soon - so the information is pretty outdated.
I will soon be making a new hub with tables. Once I get so far, I'll see if I can get it to work, and I'll let you know. I hope you can wait that long...
Ok thank you.
Yes, I can wait. If all else fails I'll make it elsewhere and import it. I just thought it would be good to know how to use the table capsule properly since I have never really made use of it.
I've emailed the team as well, since if I find out I might do a hub on it for other hapless hubbers, methinks.
Thanks!
WryLilt, I got it now.
While editing the table, you make it sortable. When you are done, you save the changes then click preview. Then you can sort the results by clicking on the column you want the table sorted by.
In preview, it says: "(click column header to sort results)"
Ok thank you very much. In my opinion that's really silly. It doesn't help me at all - it just helps the reader!
Sorting it only applies per view, I cannot permanently sort the table.
Thanks anyways, guess I'm going to do it in Excel!
Are you sure that is correct? After you sort it to your liking in preview, then uncheck "make table sortable," and the order you have created should stay in place. No? Would that not accomplish what you wanted?
I tried but it only applies to sorting for THAT view. If you can find another way, please do, but from what I can see it is for viewer use only.
Seems you are correct. I agree, the feature seems to be useless then. At least now you know...
Hey WryLilt,
I'm not sure if this is what you're making reference to, but I know Darkside wrote a hub on "Table of Contents".
If not, then I apologize about posting.
http://hubpages.com/hub/tableofcontents
Thanks, but no. I've used table of contents before.
No I'm referring to the fact that there's an actual "Table" capsule. Seems very few people use it though! For an example check out my hub "What is a backlink?"
I'm trying to use them more because they are a good tool.

In the spirit of community sharing and caring I give to you a step by step tutorial on how to make a Table Of Contents for your hubs.If you're familiar with HTML it's easy enough. Just a bit fiddly. The only way to make it easier is if HubPages HQ make a capsule to do it automagically.

We just rolled out a few changes to the site. Most of the updates were minor, the big change was the addition of the table capsule. As the name suggests, it allows you to display tables of information in your hubs. You can construct them by hand or you can import data from a CSV...

Hi All, I have been asked to add a table of contents to a very long article before it can be moved to a niche site. Does anyone know where the Table of Contents capsule that allows for maneuvering to specific areas of articles is located?I have searched through all the capsule options...

I have read that site maps are great for web site to help with search engine crawlers. Can we list a site map on our hubs at HP through the link capsule since are hubs are not more than one page? Can we do this and place a link to the header within that page?Or would it just be better to take a...

Can you change the column width of the columns of the table capsule? It seems there is no option for doing that. In my opinion it is a must feature for a table.

Hi all! We're currently experiencing some issues with our product capsules, but we're working hard to get things up and running again as soon as possible. In the meantime, don't worry if you see a "No Amazon products found" note when trying to add a new product capsule or find that a...
