This happens to me all the time. Sometimes I know it's about to happen, because the comments box appears half width. At other times, I write my comment and hit "submit" and it disappears. It doesn't say my comment has to be approved by the author, it just disappears.
I have no idea why it is, and usually everything's OK next time I log in.
Saturday this was happening to me, but it went away when I held down the control button and refreshed my browser. I had to do this to approve fan mail also. The site, like all sites, just acts wacky noodle sometimes .
Depends what way the wind is blowing! Sounds like HubPages was hiccuping at the time.
