Remember saw someone saying one can only post maximum 2 links for each unique url in a hub. Well, today for the first time I added couple of more links to a totally different url in my new hub, and at the same time did the same to couple of other hubs, thought I would benefit from it. But just not long after that, my newest hub went back to 49(climbed hard from 49 to 50 initially), and all my hubs noticeably dropped to lower scores overall. I don't feel it is a coincidence, it's more like I've got punished or something, especially my profile score also dropped, even though my hub kama has recently climbed from 30 something to now 55. Please let me know if I actually can only put up two links in total in a hub, not 2 per unique url. Thanks!
I've already changed it back to only 2 urls, regardless. This kind of score change has never happened to me. Don't want to take the chance.
One more thing to add: this newest hub hasn't even shown under its category after hours have passed by. This also never has happened before. It's not even under "most recent", nowhere to be found. I don't understand why.
See http://hubpages.com/faq/#overly_promotional
If I understand what you did, then I don't think you did anything wrong. Check out the FAQ's it helps explain the links that are not allowed.
You should try your experiments out on one hub and watch its activity and score for a few days. If it goes up, then you can duplicate the experiment. Putting in stuff, then taking it out, does not give enough time for it to settle.
I believe that hubs start out at 50, I keep mine unpublished for a few days to review them and make them the best I can, with that approach, I rarely experience a lower number right away. All of your hubs will probably go up and down with time, I have a hub that went to 98 and now is in the 70's but it is going back up.
Thanks a lot , Steve, I think I've read stuff about links before, that is how I learned 2 links and 2 unique url thing. Anyway, I'll leave the hubs the way they are now, plan to only put 2 links in one hub (unique or not).
I do understand scores can fluctuate in a wide range, and I've seen enough on my own hubs (though never seen anything dramatic like like going from 98 to 70's), but it never concerned me. Only this time it caught my attention.
btw, for another question: In my own experience, it seems when I keep a hub unpublished for a day or two, the score goes down for sure, it's more like even it is unpublished, hubpages treats it like published, yet you don't really get traffic, so the score goes down. That's why after that, I always publish my hubs right away, then take the time polish them. Any thoughts on that?

After 6 months on the site i've started the really wonder how many backlinks is a reasonable number to any hub, and really to a hub becoming successful? Or is it simply a lottery. What kind of figures do other hubbers consider?

Sometimes when I have ideas for hubs, I "start a hub" and sometimes finish it later or just let it sit there for a while. Maybe I should just write down my hub ideas instead. Does it hurt my hub scores or overall hubber score to have those unfinished hubs (often with just titles) sitting...

I recently got my lowest score ever for a book review on Kate Chopin's novel, The Awakening.Anyone want to give me some feedback? Usually my scores start around 50 and go up as I construct the hub.The entire review is my original writing. I didn't copy any text.

By means of substandard quality? One of which has almost 700 views on it. These three hubs have been on here for over a year and are now being flagged although they generate comments and daily reads. I don't understand if they were good enough for the last year and a half and now aren't? Please...
