New food crisis?

According to the United Nations, a new world-wide food crisis is imminent. I wonder how this will affect the US. We're the largest producers of:

    corn
    beef
    poultry
    milk
    soybeans

    We're #2 for:

    eggs
    lettuce
    tomatoes

So does that mean our turkey and dressing, along with our steaks and salads, are safe? Do you think these items will be scarce, or will we just be paying more for them?

I've read in the news that turkey prices are going up.  I love turkey...
my mil's sweet potato casserole,  and turkey, pumpkin pie and egg nog almost make up for it being cold.    sad

habee, what does the UN attribute the cause to?

(and speaking of food, why aren't you joining the HubMob and sharing Christmas recipes?)
