Just began to wonder whether it would be practical and possible to one day be able to use amazon widgets directly in hubs? Just a sudden thoughts
Not going to happen.
The Amazon capsule is the only way and is required for the Revenue Sharing arrangement at Hubpages.
For that level of control you need your own site.
On the second thought, we have the flexibility to edit our contend in html, so that would be the perfect place to implement amazon widgets. Technically it is possible, but hubpages team may not like the idea. Are you saying we just can't do it or you do know hubpages team does not want this to happen?
What would be different about using the widget over the capsules? Better personalization?
Well, depending on what format you have for your hub, sometimes it may just look nicer and more attractive to have a carousel widget, for example. I've recently started using it for one of my websites, it really looks good. But we can live without widget, can't we?

Is there a balance of Amazon products on a page that makes a hub overly promotional? Or is it dependent on the individual hub (over and beyond the 50 words per product)?
