There are such an interesting variety of profile/avatar names on here.  I am just wondering if anyone is willing to share how they came up with theirs.  Just curious. big_smile

Since I make a variety of different things and my design style sometimes changes with my mood, I felt my line was like being in a cafe, with choices.  Everything is handmade which makes it couture of a sort.  I went back and forth between couture cafe and cafe couture, each of which would have a slightly different connotation.  While discussing this with a young friend, I told her I wanted the name to pop and she suggested couture pop cafe!

John Lennon: "Mind Games"     " Some kind of Druid Dude, lifting the veil, some call it magic to search for the Grail." Druid can't lift that veil unless he found it. Merging of many Gaelic legends.

Very interesting question with great answers. Now how I wish I had thought about my profile name a bit more to use on here.

My name was really kinda given to me.  Back in college, someone suggested that I brought a kind of urbane chaos into life.  The name stuck, and for many years I was called either urbane or chaos.  I use it from time to time when I don't want to use my real name.

Mine is my pen name. I used the porn star method to choose it.
First name = name of my first childhood pet.
Surname = name of the first street I lived on.

Bit risky - just Googled you.  I can see you and your cat on street view.

Toby Hansenposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Not really. Pet has been dead for over thirty years.  Is even longer since I lived on that street.
As for street view, you must have the wrong Toby Hansen. My house is in the middle of a dairy property on a gated drive well away from the road smile

In the universe, is there anything we KNOW, smaller or of less questionable matter than a "quark?"
Philosophically,  I exist, in size and import, as a "quark."
The name "quark" had been taken.
"Qwark" was close enuf to convey the import of my being to all who try to understand  this infinite and eternal universe.
Of course being an old  "trekky" helped...smile:

    Personal Computer Unix.

Although I do have an alternate explanation involving the Pcuni, a sadly extinct Australian marsupial. Apparently the last breeding pairs were  thoughtlessly killed by American tourists because the poor Pcuni nests looked very much like bubble wrap.

I took the name to remind other Americans of the havoc we wreak across the world.

Basically I have been a cheeky girl for as long as I can remember, and I was given the name by school friends. We all had nick names of "handles". Plus my name suits me, and it gets a reaction on Facebook too. It's in my website name (which I won't url, no fear). I wonder how many people's names have made them famous, if at all? (Just curious!)
