I read on someone hub that it helps to ping your hubs. What exactly is pinging and why should I do it? Thanks.

I have read that it helps and that it doesn't matter. Even if it helps a little I would recommend it as it literally takes about 15 seconds.

All you do is go to the website Ping-O-Matic and copy/paste your Hub URL into the text box. That's it. Why not?

Pinging is not a huge deal, all it does is tell the Google spider to check your content, this does not necessarily mean your content will be indexed any faster, especially since the Hubpages content is crawled often.  Pinging is more for those who are just starting a new website, where the Google bot only runs once every 3-4 minutes, and often leaves your page before it finds new content.

I agree about it being for sites that aren't crawled often. I don't think there is any point pinging hubs.

I purchased this software to help ping...

I am still test driving it...will keep you posted.

I purchased it more for my website than my blogs but I have used it for my blogs which seems to have helped my traffic.
