    Homepage is: http://www.whatermelon.com/jobs

    They got two sites, whyimtheworst and whyimthebest (.com for both).  They want 75 to 300 word articles with that best/worst thing as the point.  Seems to short too say anything worth while, but... anyone done anything with them before?

    Sounds right up my alley.

    Sounds and looks dodgey.

    Using Wordpress for the sites, which is fine (to a degree), but they don't know how to wrap text around an image.

    The Terms posted at http://www.whatermelon.com/jobs are far too flimsy.

    The brevity made me suspicious.  I'll hold off till maybe someone who has messed with them speaks up on their behalf.

    Never heard of them - do a bit of research and check what other people say about them in reviews and stuff.

    You never know... Maybe it's an undiscovered legit opportunity?

    The domains all have hidden ownership and contact details.

    whyimthebest was registered on 8th July 2008.
    whyimtheworst was registered on 9th July 2008.

    The sites are brand new.
    They will have no good or bad reputation.
    The whatermelon leadin does nothing to inspire confidence.

    Join the dots.
    I wouldn't submit anything to them.

    Yeah, there was just something about it that prevented me from jumping in.  The first penguin in the water gets eaten by sharks.

      You would know about this stuff, being a scientist and all.

    Might that "something" have involved spelling and grammar?  I know that's what did it for me.  Didn't bother to check out the terms.

    Certainly doesn't help the overall sales appeal, does it.  Wonder what they're up to.  Somebody with a cute idea and in need of an editor or someone farming email and personal info?

    This is from their TOS:
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    A few more things: By submitting an article your giving us permission to use your article however we see fit.
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    Article lengths can be 75-? (I forget what it said) words, maybe 300.  Trying to rake in cheap work and resell, I suppose, or use in their own blogs.

    I would avoid them.

    What is wrong with wordpress darkside? And any way, these guys are using blogger smile

      Yes, you're correct, it is blogger.

      Which inspires less confidence in me!

      At a glance I thought it was WP but a very basic install. So it was within the means of a person without any real skill in setting up these sites. Between that and the uninspiring information on http://www.whatermelon.com/jobs it's far too easy to assume that it's being run by someone with a big idea but little skill to back it up.

      It is a half decent idea, but poorly executed.

      I do in fact LOVE Wordpress. It's excellent for a solo venture, unless you've got the time and skills to mod it for something more.
