Oh for crying out loud. Browsers are damn lightweights.

Ok a while back I asked for advice re browsers. I ended up catching a nasty IE virus, which I couldn't rid myself of, so instead switched browsers.

    I used FF, Opera, Chrome.

Great. Only FF isn't reliable (lags up, crashes), Chrome panics everytime it hits certain software apps (presumably Flash type stuff according to the crash error message) and Opera well - having un-installed/re-installed it's just a damn mess.

Ideas anyone please? Otherwise I'm poking my eyes out with a blunt spoon.

One of them at least. I might save the other for when I find the answer down the line smile

FD, I've never had FF lag or crash.  Seriously, ever.  Are you sure you don't have a larger issue?  Switching browsers doesn't necessarily wipe the issue from Windows.

Add to that Malwarebytes Antimalware.  Good program.

I think Stop Sign is one of the best for virus cleanup, and full protection. Its not free, but it works very well.

    There's a choice of browsers here with information: http://www.browserchoice.eu/BrowserChoi … ice_en.htm
Hope you resolve the problem soon - I had much the same thing with FF and IE, but Chrome is working well for me so far.

Frogdropping, I just want to know why you normally sharpen your spoons.

Well that's easy - sharp spoons are want to do less damage when I throw them at the dog. When she deserves it of course. I'm not entirely mean smile

No. there's no point. I'm hard-wired the wrong way.

Today my friend called. I answered the 'phone (landline) and started talking. Whilst chatting I plugged the hoover in. She immediately vanished.

After messing with the phone for a minute or so I just put it down and wandered off to hoover. When I went to unplug the hoover I realised why my phone stopped working. I'd unplugged it to plug the hoover in.

Or there's the time when I was taking a Vit C every morning. Until my daughter pointed out that I was taking Zinc. I based the fact it was Vit C on the colour of the bottle - orange.

Never bothered looking at the label hmm

@ Jadwigga - the only time I kick the cat is when there's an absolute necessity. Like I said - I'm not cruel me.

There might be your answer to the browser problem. Use the Hoover to vacuum IE and get rid of the pesky virus. If that fails, take IE through the car wash.

    Thank you all smile

I shall look at this in the morning. Chrome is currently messing about - The following plug-in has crashed: Embed-style Adapter For Google Chrome/Opera/Etc

Lovely. No idea what that means or even what adapter is playing pop with the browsers.

@ Shogun - I just don't use IE - ever. I daren't. The virus is still in it/with it - anytime I post content, reply, comment (on any website) I leave a spammy link behind. It's not mine - it's the virus. And I've never managed to work out what it is. So I just don't use it.

FD, I'm pretty sure "shogun" has something to with feudal Japan.  wink

I never use IE, either.  It's a magnet for online horrors.  I'm just wondering if it's possible that the issue with IE could have affected any Windows files.  If so, you might have connectivity issues, etc., regardless of browsers.
