I have heard a rumor that Hubpages will allow us to publish videos here. I am extremely excited about this. As I have been planning to go to video on youtube. With this news, it has gotten me 20 times more excited! If this is coming soon, I am not even worried about the minor nerf Google gave us. Although getting those views back would be nice, but who knows whats going on there atm.

Anyone have further information on this? When is it going to happen? What are some of the features, etc.

The possibilities will truly be endless when and if this video thing happens.

    Anyone have any idea?

I know as much as you: there's a rumor / news going around that there will be video but nothing official is known yet. HubPages also haven't announced that it will happen here.

Paul Edmondson has spoken about it. I have read it, will update once I get the link.

I read it in this article posted a few days ago, an article with HP CEO.
      http://www.siliconvalleywatcher.com/mt/ … a_diff.php

Text, photos, and video are the killer combination to a successful HubPage. We have plans to host our own video platform because it will give us more control over advertising.

We know they have hired new engineers recently. Don't you think right now they're focusing on cleaning up the 'no-no's'?

This is the only news I have read on it so far. I was wondering when it is going live.

Yeah I heard this too, and a video platform does sound quite cool from Hubpages....

  7. sunforged profile image70
    sunforgedposted 13 years ago

    Why does it sound cool?

Since you can embed youtube videos in a hub , and if you are developing video content at youtube, you may qualify for the partner program and can easily reuse the YT video on just about any platform anywhere.

Why would using a hubsbased video server make any sense?

Youtube aint broken and its the market leader, I would rethink pigeonholing your video content.

I would love to know as I cant even understand why HP would enter the video hosting / youtube competition market?

I'm sure it had something to do with an extra income stream for us or some other advertising method or something to that effect, If I read it right...can't remember the blog, could have been techcrunch or something similar

I was just wondering if I had seen it in the new TOS that was supposed to be coming March 3rd, but now it seems like the links for that are missing?

Which might mean that it is being refurbished in light of the Google stuff..

Yes. That could have been it....so many links to click.....I can't quite remember!!

If Hubpages opens up revenue sharing for video uploads then it would have benefit to those who cannot get accepted to the YouTube partnership scheme.

I suspect that as long as it is your video you will also be able to upload your YouTube videos here. Just another way of making a small bit of extra revenue from your videos I suppose?

I really see a great amount of potential in Hubpages video(amazon, need I say more). If you release your video here, I am sure I would be able to make more money than youtube. I could be wrong though. Also who says you can't use both. It sounds like a win win to me. In fact when I start my videos I will be using Hubpages as my main platrform I believe. Depending on how good it actually is.

It remains to be seen, but I am extremely excited about it.

The only thing about a video program I remember seeing was in some blog post.

    Here I found it

The link that posted twice above was actually the reason I posted this thread. I was looking for more info on it, but it seems like only Hubpages staff knows. Thanks for digging it up though, as it is still a good read.

if the answer is - they will be offering some sort of ppv ad revenue system via video then Im down and would participate.

Posting on both for any other reason I can imagine would be inefficient and redundant duplication (like my syntax)

and yes , you do need to say more then "amazon," at least for me, as  I dont understand the correlation between a theoretical HUbpages video ad program  and amazon.

Does Youtube allow you to put amazon ads on your site? I really don't want to get in to it, but some of my ideas involve video and amazon.

Not that you can't imbed and use youtube. But if Hubpages can be much more profitable, I'd use it over youtube in a heart beat. Not to mention I have some good ideas to drive people from youtube to here.

Believe me I've been planning for months now, ha.

You could put them in the description, can't see why not, but Hubpages could do it better - with capsules.

Precisely what I was thinking, but who knows hubvid might suck.

Which is why I'm looking for more information, so I can plan accordingly.

There is absolutely no reason why you can't produce videos on YouTube, and then upload then to 'hubvid' too.... or video.hubpages.com whatever it will be called.

Mikeydoesposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Well yeah, I'm well aware of this. I can't make videos at the moment, but that doesn't mean I don't have a bunch of ideas. I have to decide what I am going to do, that is all.

What you are talking about was actually my original plan, and still might be. Just wondering about hubvids and when its coming.

How about PPC? Just like YouTube?

And what if the ability was there to review something in your video, have it titled "Red Widget 5 Video Review" and then have an Amazon capsule beneath that video with a link to the brand new Red Widget 5?

If affiliate capsules could be used asides the videos, would you be down then?

The problem with PPV is that it is open to abuse, at least it would be if we were presented with embed code. Hubpages would have no benefit in paying you 1 cent per view if the viewers were watching it via your blog?

      1. sunforged profile image70
sunforgedposted 13 years agoin reply to this

only used ppv as i  associate it with most video marketing programs - really just meant video revenue whatever method may be used.

You guys have created all sorts of cool uses for "hubvideo" - I was imagining something more akin to facebook video.

I would be down with hubvideo if you were the engineers

Mikeydoesposted 13 years agoin reply to this

          Lol, lets hope not.

I have quite an imagination. Let me tell you. I'm trying to get the big picture. I plan on being very successful and I want to make calculated plans if I can.

So hopefully we will find out more, haha. I hope for our sake it isn't like what you are talking about smile

I said hubvids to see if it would stick . I will say you guys created it with me if it sticks and somehow becomes a popular name. Not like I really went above and beyond to think of it though, haha.
