We have detected activity (and have heard from our community) that there is some activity on our site that triggers anti-virus software warnings.  We are looking into the cause of this, and it seems to be originating from some ad networks that we are working with. So far, we believe that the alerts are false-positives, but regardless, this sort of experience is alarming and we take it very seriously.  We have shut off all suspected sources and will not enable them again until we are certain that we have eliminated the cause.  Now that this action is taken, if you encounter anymore malware warnings from your anti-virus software, please let us know.  We appreciate everyone's participation in reporting this issue to us, your patience, and your continued vigilance in helping HubPages remain a safe and useful site for our community

Whoo - saw some yesterday but none today! I have read where one of the newer ad companies, Tribal Something, Tribal Fusion I think, is a source of malware, viruses, and other trouble.

Yes, I had a problem with this virus on Friday and I report it to Hubpages right away. Also, I think it might come from a website who is harassing and stalking me, as well. I told Team Hubpages who I think it is, hopefully they'll look into this along with the ad networks (who might giving us the trouble.) Anyway, Thank you, for looking into this for us. smile

I'm so happy it's not just me, but other Hubbers are getting this virus problem too. smile

    Thanks,

Okay, so today for the first time since these reports started, I now had my first problem and I don't know if it is related. All I can say is that I have always had all protections in place...anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall.

Today my system locked up and had to reboot. When it came back up I got an error pop up in my browser saying "PX engine has stopped working properly."

It looked like it came from Microsoft but it directed me to a website called "Roxio Software" to fix whatever problem it was referring to. I decided to ignore this and not click on the link. So far I am back up and running with no problems. I am wondering if anyone else got this error. Is this what everyone is talking about?  I copied the screen which I included here...

Quick update: we tracked down the specific offending source and shut it off yesterday.  Thanks again for your patience and understanding, and most impressively, being an active and supportive community.

I thought that I had a bug in my Ginger Beer Hub a few days ago!

But when I used the recipe and found that the Ginger Beer was flat.. I realized that it was probably one that you had shut down! hmm
