Hi Simone, Its exciting that a new contest will start shortly. Can we have a clock at the contest page to know exactly how much time is left for contest to start . I always get confused with Time Zones.
This Writers Contest has been a great experience for me while it lasted. But I don't think I am cut-up for this as I am unable to do full justice to my writing.
My focus in hubpages is to be an art writer to share/teach about what I think I am good at and help widen my artistic horizon eventually promote my services online.
But for this challenge I found myself going away from art just because I needed more content. Being an art writer takes a lot of time, adding supporting artwork and photographs which I am unable to do at this rate. Moreover, my work commitments makes this all the more challenging.
Thank you for everyone's support. And wish you all the luck for this April challenge.
Going to really have ago at this, seeing as we can write anything and really to try and write useful quality hubpages is the key here. The challenge is there, just will have to go on the potty first, then let the writing commence!
I published and tagged this one with "writing contest" last night but it never showed up in the contest. Maybe it couldn't be hubmob and writing contest after all? (BTW, I'm not talking about the Absinthe hub that DID show up. Woohoo!)
I'm concerned; I just submitted a hub to this contest but it is not showing up on the tagged results or the link to all entries. I started this hub a few days ago but didn't publish it until today - could that be the problem? The hub is as follows:
oh, and 1 more questionn..all you have to do is include writingconstest in your tags? I'm asking because I'm very interested in joining, I published one hub for the writing contest but I'm not sure it's with the rest of the entries ...(I'm new to Hubpages sorry!)
That's right - all you have to do is include that tag Easy peasy, no? Of course, to have a qualifying Hub, it must be published for the first time that day, completely original to HubPages, and longer than 400 words, but that's a piece of cake. Welcome to HubPages! We're glad to have you with us!
I added the tag "WritingContent" as instructed in the instructions. But when I hit the publish button, I saw that HubPages automatically changed my tag to be "writingcontent" without the capital letters.
I've posted my entries but haven't seen a cheque arrive yet? Now OK I've been out some of the day but surely the postman would just put it through the letterbox, unless it was one of those huge five feet cheques with two bikini clad ladies either side of it. Anyway, if you could redeliver tomorrow - I'll stay in and wait.
Hi soni, Please feel free to have a read at my travel pages, 3 done already and 27 to go and any feedback and comments more than welcome.. BTW I will be doing a feature on India (one of my favourites since my ancesters came from India) so watch the space. Ps I like some of your hubs but have not had too much time to read as much as I would normally.
Hiya prairieprincess - only your Student Loan in Canada one shows up in today's report right *now* but there is sometimes a bit of a delay, and I won't be reviewing entries until about an hour from now, so you should be OK.
This may be a silly question but here goes... Since the contest started mid-day, are new submissions to be after each 24 hour period of the first submission or is the calendar day a new day? I don't want to accidently submit 2 hubs on one day since it will be hard enough writing one for every day of the contest. Thanks for an answer! :-)
Hello Simone I am in the Dubai region, so I maybe submitting it a few hours ahead of the day. Will that be a problem to get considered? / For instance I submitted the 2 April submission several hours before it would've struck 12 at your side.
His topic is super niche, plus he shares some expertise that not everyone has. It's a super useful Hub, and on a subject that does not already have extensive good coverage online. The photos are original, his language is great, and his title is search-friendly and illustrative.
The list could go on and on. Seriously. And a lot of these Hubs are going to be featured in the future in our brand new podcast series (see the HubPages blog for more details). So props to all of you for the amazing Hubs, and pace yourselves - if you want to increase your chance of winning Staff Pick, I recommend publishing later in the contest, when all the early birds are pooped
I thought I saw something in the contest announcement about some daily bonus topics and they would be published on the contest page.I haven't been able to find them. What am I missing? Am I just blind? Is there a direct link to them?
I decided to publish a hub for this that I have had stuck back in my computer memory for a while. Never found the right time to publish it. Figured I would add a little different flavor to the writing contest.
I am quite excited to join the April Writing Contest and 30 day challenge. I already posted on 1st April and for the 2nd April one. But I think I am not doing it right even though I have placed the right tags. Must I post my hubs in a particular space to get recognized as a participant?
Join HubPages (if you have not already - it’s free and easy!)! Write an entry - keeping in mind the judging criteria! (the maximum number of entries is five per day) Make sure it has the tag: WritingContest Click the “Publish!”
Keep in mind that all entries MUST...
Include the tag: WritingContest Be published for the first time on that given contest day Be a minimum of 400 words Be entirely original to HubPages
Thanks UW for your counsel I just saw my submissions here: http://hubpages.com/reports/sytycwo I did all of that. But when I posted this question, I guess my submission was yet to reflect on the above link.
I just went to view this link but couldn't see my submissions on any date. Is this the official report forum or is there another link? Am I not posting on the incorrect dateline because I'm overseas or have I been deemed invalid because perhaps I forgot to do something?
I think writingcontest works in my case izzyM there is no need to add space between "writing " and contest.writingcontest is right tag to add to enter contest see following hub with just writingcontest as tag not writing contest. <snipped link>
Great job to the winners. Great pages - really nice niches AND you know how to read the rule properly LOL Maybe one day I'll be able to read the rules - it's because I'm a computer gamer and always throw away the rules before playing the game!
Anyway, keep up the great work - good to see so many talented writers on here!
Hi emilgen-glad to see that you are part of this challenge. Did you know there is a separate place to post your hubs? It is in the thread started by Darkside--well, you know where it is, LOL It's the other thread where you've been posting your challenge work previously.
I know! This is tough. I posted #3 and and already feel drained but my motivation is stronger. I am looking forward to wearing my new glasses because I am not used to being a daily writer. Am loving this so much also because there are so many participants and everyone helping each other.
I don't know why people are posting links here, no one said you had to. People usually put a link in the challenge threads so I guess they want some of that free advertising here They will find your hub as long as you put "writingcontest" as a tag.
I have published three hubs in April and I don't know if there are in the contest. I clicked contest and signed in after " you think... " showed up. I did not see any tag to tag the hub as contest and I did not add writingcontest to the hub title so I just don't know the position of the hub now. Can you advise on how I can link it to the contest. I did not see any publishing changes for the contest except "contest" on the top pages. I have other hubs to publish but it seems I have to wait.
When you first write a hub you will be given the choice to add tags at the beginning. After that if you look at the grey box on the right of the screen in the edit screen you can choose the tags, summary, etc.
To those who are unsure whether their submission registered:
1. Look at http://hubpages.com/reports/sytycwo where you will find all qualified hubs listed. I believe this is only updating hourly, and then not until several minutes past the hour. So don't sweat it until, say, 15 minutes past the top of the hour after your submission time.
2. Entries there are listed sequentially, first chronologically by "contest date" and then alphabetically by "username." If your submission isn't where you expect, look the day before or after. If you find it there, you need to study the time zone difference from where you live.
3. If you don't find your submission after all the above, then go back to be sure you used the "writingcontest" tag (no space--I know fingers might rebel). If you add or correct that and you're still within the 24-hr contest day, it will count. If you didn't catch it until past the day's cut-off time, there's no second chance. Write a new article for tomorrow.
4. No, there is no theme of the day as mentioned in the detailed rules. That's just fine print legalese that applied to a previous contest, but not to this one.
I don't speak officially for the HUbPages team here--just my observations.
I am referring to what is mentioned in the contest rules in this section: "In addition, all submissions categorized within the Daily Bonus Topic, which is specified on the contest page, within 24 hours of the topic’s posting....." But I am assuming this wont be part of the contest at the moment.
loveSpaces I don't really know why you replied to my question with this post, as it seems more like spam than sharing. There is no need for you to put all your links here as you publish your Hubs, we all can see all the submissions in this link http://hubpages.com/reports/sytycwo.
The forums rules and Faq also have terms against excessive links in forum threads that lead to hubs unless they have a true meaning and add on to the topic being discussed, well I just wanted to mention it, don't get me wrong I don't mean to be mean or rude in anyway, take care.
Thank you for answering my question. I've added the writingcontest tag and hope to see my submission in the list soon. It is too late for the daily drawing, but I still would like to be considered in the big pick.
