Just a thought:I have an ideal for these floods and droughts we have been seeing thoughout the years. What if they make a pipeline from the states that see heavy flooding to the states that have droughts. They could then pump water to places that need it while getting rid of the water from states that dont need it.They built the panama canal I think they should be able to make this happen. What do you think?

a lot of areas that have droughts also have floods eg in Australia.  It's extremes in weather - not much rain for years and then all at once.

In the US floodwaters are often full of fecal mater, toxic chemical etc. It might do more harm than having no water at all....

They can make a filteration system. It's the same thing they do with the water you drink or bathe in from a river with the same conditions.

If they can make a filtration system it would make more sense to pipe water in from whatever source is closest. The system used to make drinking water is very expensive and complex--and it generally draw from quite clean water sources like high elevation lakes or underground aquifers.

That's not true.Rivers from cities throughout the nations have industrial waste, sewer waste and chemical runoff from farmland as there water usage. The sewage plants filter the waters from these rivers for household usage. The pamama canal cost $40,000,000.00 which was a high price back then.I think the money used for these sewage plants or filteration systems is a lot cheaper than rebuilding states or cities each time it floods.

no it's not the same conditions as river water.  Flood waters are much more toxic

Where do you think the flood waters go when they recede ...back into the river.

yeah, and killing the river turtles etc along with it because it has industrial products & sewage in it

When people don't do something that seems obvious, there is normally a reason.
