Verification Before Publication

I was about ready to publish my first Hub, and when I clicked publish, a window came up and said that I had to verify I was a real person, by either getting a text or a phone call. I opted for phone call, and the phone did ring. But the message was cut off somehow, and all I actually heard was the welcome message over and over. I pressed one as instructed but this had no effect, and I got no verification code. I cannot apparently do this again, and I have no numerical code to enter. I would like to solve this problem before I try to publish again. Thank you.

      Hi StanJ,
Welcome to HubPages!  Sorry you encountered this problem.  I have sent an email to one of our engineers, and we'll get back to you soon.  Cheers!

      Hello StanJ,

You should be able to try again today because enough time has passed. When the phone call tells you to press 1, what is intended is that you should press 1 on your phone. I mention this only because it looks like you tried to enter "1" as the verification code on the HubPages web site. After you press 1 on your phone, then it will read out a code made up of 6 letters and numbers, and that is the code that we are wanting you to enter on the web site.

Did you press 1 on your phone? If so, perhaps the third party service we are using is having difficulty understanding your phone key presses for some reason. In that case, if you stay on the line for 30 seconds without pressing any keys, then it should eventually stop repeating the welcome message and read out the verification code to you.

Are you using a cell phone? Is it possible for you to use the SMS (text message) option instead? If so, I would advise trying that first.

If you cannot use the SMS option and trying again with the phone call (and pressing 1 on your phone or staying on the line for over 30 seconds) does not work, then let me know and I'll figure something out for you.

I'm afraid that I didn't actually do anything, but I'm glad it worked for you this time! Maybe there was a temporary problem that went away on its own. Sorry for the inconvenience!
