Is helping out a situation you hate worth feeling content?

I don't quite follow the question.

Do you hate the situation you want help with but want to know if you should anyway in order to feel better that you helped?

It's like helping someone or something u dislike sometimes leads to feeling content, which I am unsure of...

Ask yourself if, given the same situation, you would have helped the person if you liked them or felt neutral about them.

If the answer is "no", then some close examination of your own motives is in order.
