Hi Hubbers -
We have just unveiled a new invite-your-friends part to the signup process that makes it easy for new Hubbers to see who's already part of the HubPages community by checking their address books (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL or Hotmail). So if a new user's address book includes an email address associated with a current Hubber, HubPages will ask them if they want to join that Hubber's fan club.
If you do not want new signups to be able to see that you're part of HubPages, then please uncheck the 'Allow other users to contact you? box which is on your Edit Your Profile page.
We instituted this feature so new users, including those you've invited, can easily find and join the fan clubs of the people they already know. But if you'd prefer to publish incognito, you can exercise that option by changing your communication settings.
