I got an email from Paypal which said:

Your PayPal balance was auto withdrawn

    Dear Siddharth Pani,

Your PayPal balance was automatically transferred to your ICICI in India, x-3321 on Sep 12, 2011.

Your balance is automatically withdrawn daily.

    Yours sincerely,
    PayPal.

Why did they do this. I had $14 in it for a while and just got another $20 yesterday. I have not made any changes to my account either. As I am in India its almost impossible to call Paypal as they don have an office in India.

      "Yours sincerely"?

Feels like spam. Don't click on any link in the actual email. Log in to PayPal by typing in paypal.com directly into your browser and check.

That is odd. Maybe you need to contact them to tell them you never authorized auto withdrawals, or you did so by accident.

Did you ever log into your PayPal account by clicking a link in an email similar to that?  Or any link from any email?  If you did, then you gave your logon ID and password to a hacker. If you can 't call from India, you can use online chat or email to notify PayPal. Just log into your account and go to the Security and Protection link at the top. Don't delay.

I'd recommend that you read over the PayPal rules and conditions as they apply to India and make sure you understand all the tiny details.

Indian govt placed limitation of 10 dollar balance in paypal, this money should be withdrawn within 7 days or else it'll be transfered automatically. You are also not allowed to use balance for online spendings.Paypal is not a bank, thats why these restrictions are applied. This change is applicable since march 2011.
