a great surprise on the weekend.....
thank you very much for this update---Hubpages team you're the best.....
Nice changes!!! I logged in and the format was wonderful , I appreciate all of the categorizing. :
and am anxious about utilizing the other goodies!!!
I too would like to say thanks...the profile change is overall a very nice upgrade.
It seems to me that if you wanted to do the "Hub of Hubs" approach, you could create a Table of Contents hub categorizing each of your topics. Then include a link from your profile to the Table of Contents Hub within that category.
I'm not sure how this falls within the terms of use for HP, but if this is discouraged, I'm sure someone will speak up.
Anyone, Buehler?
The new Profile Page looks good. It gives readers a quick look at several of our other hubs that hasn't been easily available in the past. It's nice to see the steady flow of improvements to HubPages.
I was tracking traffic and Now all my Traffic Statistics are gone, looks like they got started over....Sad! But the new page layout is nicer.
Awesome changes, just have to get my miss taged hubs in line {;-{()} Thanks to The team
I don't know how much change the hub has because i am new user. But as everybody says thank, i feel they are correct.
I joined recently and find very flexible to use this hub. Really, I like. So, I say thanks to hubpages.com
Fawntia just posted a blog about the changes and her reasons for changing/upgrading/improving certain things....definitely worth a quick read:
http://blog.hubpages.com/2008/10/the-ph … redesigns/
I love the changes thanks, but is there a reason for arbitrarily classifying my hubs into topics?
We have a successful function in the GROUPS we can create at hubpages, and I for one have gone to a great deal of trouble to build logical and cohesive group structures. Now I find my hubs split up into a rather arbitrary looking set of TOPICS, not anything to do woth my chosen structure.
For example I have a homes and gardens GROUP that now doesn't appear, but my garden water fountins hub appears in a new topic WATER - which isn't really relevant.
I'm just rather dissappointed that given that we have a structure of classification in place already, it's been ignored for a new structure... that for me at any rate doesn't work nearly as well.
Love the look of it, just not the way they are classified.
Not the topics, but tags - you can see this has been discussed already in this thread
The problem is that not everyone uses groups. Even among users with at least 15 hubs, only about half use groups. We needed something that would work for everyone, so we decided to use tags.
Maybe we could use groups to determine the topics for hubbers who have chosen to use groups. We will consider that for the future.
I agree - I have the start of a small series (4 hubs) on bullying in the office and now they are split up! other than this slight annoyance the new look is great. cheers.
Yes these changes will help a lot, I have also noticed changes in link building. I think its great now that a summary of the link of hubpages is now included I was getting tired of adding my own, the one thing that can be improved there is you can also add a place to put our referral ID that would be really nice. Again thanks for the updates.
I like the Statistics button on the Profile page to show our overall production and vewership levels. Awesome!
Fawntia did you see my suggestion about possibly letting hubbers choose the tags they want to show on the profile page?
Yes, I did see it. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. It seems like a lot of people want more control over which topics and hubs get shown, so I assume that we will figure out a way to do that eventually. I think I agree with Julie-Ann Amos that it makes sense to use groups for this. Do you think that's a good solution?
Hm.. In a way, I like the idea of using groups, but would the featured hubs change or stay the same? I like the idea of the hubs changing on the front page, and if by having the groups options means that the first 3 hubs, middle, or last hubs are the only ones that are seen, I'm not a fan of that idea... I like the idea of choosing the tags so that the hubs have the potential to changing, depending on what tags you pick and how often you write hubs using that tag.
Uploading of photos in photo capsule sometimes seems to be a long process and unpredictable when it will finish loading. It will be good if the percentage of loading at the moment is shown like 50% completed---80% completed or 2 minutes remaining just like that. Without this in some cases it is difficult to know whether the photos are uploading or not, whether the upload or connection with hubpages has been stopped or not.
forget what I just said about topic placements - I have now read the whole thread and it seems I have to re-check my tags! cheers and thanks.
