I know I'm starting to feel like the donkey in Shrek jumping up and down in the background shouting 'Pick me; Pick me' but I really would like some feedback on some of my Hubs. I promise I'll return the compliment )
Wow. Both of your submissions are great. You are very talented. Your photo pics and lay out were also great. I am new to this topic. I entered something for fun and it was great to express myself. Now that I read your submissions, I think I am way off but I enjoyed it anyway!
Hi folks. This is my first entry in the Photo Galleries competition (though I think I didn't categorise it in the right way to start with - hope it might still be elligible for something. If not - oh well!) It's actually the first of 3 pages I'm doing about photographing Paris, so thanks for the opportunity to publicise it. Cheers. Alun
Unfortunately, HubPages removed my short poem "Fandango" because it had already appeared in print and online elsewhere (as part of a previous "Year of the Poet" national celebration). And that actually showed me how dangerous it is to publish any material online that one may want to re-publish in the future (either online or in print)!
So I wanted to tell all the nice folks who commented on the three poems I posted so far, that I'll be removing them at the end of the day tomorrow. Poetry is a much different animal than prose... it can't be restricted to just one public display, and it can't be "substantially rewritten" between its online airings!
I'm so sorry to have to do this, Simone... because It was a truly awesome idea!!
Is there some place where we can look at a list of all the poetry submissions? I have tried "contest" and "poetry contest" in the search box and it is not pulling up all the entries. I would like to read them!
Here's my latest entry for Veterans' Day. It is from my conversations with different vets from different eras. It is such a treat to hear them as they recount their personal most important memories. Sometimes, it is a simple as not having a hat. Other times, it is as complex as how the SR71 worked.
Well it turns out that the first, and only so far, entry I did (a poem) ended up six words shy of meeting the 500 word count. I guess I got heavy handed in editing the discussion about the poem because it was 500 words at one point. So I have updated it today to be over 500 words.
This entry if a celebration of a little girl, her amazing story and the family that adores her. It took a year to be able to write about her at all and this is my first attempt. It's a bit raw, but it is real. http://thebookmom.hubpages.com/hub/Phot … mbrace-Her
'Thunderbirds are go' is a short story about my first job as a Runner on the feature film 'Charlie Noades: RIP' a black comedy set in Liverpool, England. Film set's are intensive places but there are still moments of humour and fun, this story gives a personal view of life at the bottom of the film making pile. http://johnnyparker.hubpages.com/hub/Th … e-Film-Set
I just submitted my first entry. I'm not a great photographer, but I feel like I know a thing or two about creating a creative, humorous photo gallery so that should count for something. Hopefully this will make you all smile!
I just read "Brianna has a secret". I left some comments, but the thing is - this hub is so remarkable, I scanned the dictionary looking for a word to describe its brilliance, but none exists. Congratulations!
In each photo capsule you will see at the top of the window (when editing)a drop down option. Among those options you will find "thumbnail". Add as many photos to the capsule as you need, and when you save it, the first image will be full or half or quarter size as you have chosen, all others will be thumbnail size until clicked on. Hope this helps! K9
Good to see everyone here. I've already read a few entries and they're all looking awesome! Good luck to everyone. My first entry is a Photo Gallery titled, "Fall Pictorial of Mansions and Gazebos on Silver Lake in Rehoboth Delaware" and can be viewed at: http://happyboomernurse.hubpages.com/hu … h-Delaware
Just to dwell on this, rather than my excellent award winning article... if I had said "knocked out" that also has an alternate meaning. To "knock one out" is a particularly vulgar expression in certain parts of the lower levels of society - ie. mine.
OK it's day 2 and my creative juices are flowing. All 3 grandchildren are in bed and all 12 dogs are sleeping. My husband is snoring and it's 12:56 am. The other 4 adults are also asleep. I am having a blast and know I will pay for this tomorrow but I don't care!
GreekOne: I think if you look at the very very very very small fine print at the bottom of the contest rules, it says something like 'Any entry that is not written by GreekOne is immediately disqualified'.
So I think you've got a great chance in this competition!
Seriously though - there are some seriously good poets and writers on Hubpages - it's amazing to see the quality of articles and I feel humbled when some of these brilliant writers take the time to comment on my work!
What a butch poem! Only a manly poetry man could bring this level of guy charm and rhythmic story telling! I enjoyed this very much. I could almost feel the dust from horse traveled trails as I read this poem.
I wrote Bipolar Blue because I have a brother who has recently been diagnosed and has always been so troubled. If I sound angry in the poem, he attacked me verbally while the rest of my family was enduring a 6 day power outage in NJ and I was already at the end of my wits. http://jeanbakula.hubpages.com/hub/Bipolar-Blue
