I'm not sure what this is called. But if you check an external link I have to my hubpage, there's this reference tag in it so we could get credit for new visitors.
Is that tag still necessary with the new hubpages address:

Yes, that is your referral tracker and your referrals only register if they click a link that contains your tracker.
