    1. Brand new to this ste and just getting started. Typically word count for article. (can I call it an Article?).

    2. Can I write in Word and paste it?

I strongly recommend that you read the learning center section. Helps a lot. http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/contents

An article on hubpages is referred to as a "hub" (though you can still call it an article if you want to).

There is no expected word count, but typically people write 250 - 2000 words.

You can write in word and copy paste, but sometimes formatting issues come up so be sure to preview your work after pasting and edit as needed.

Totally agreed with Rising.you need to format it once you are done in word.I too face same issue as mostly I compose my work in word.

I'd recommend writing in Notepad rather than word. Then what you cut and paste is raw text with no formatting. Then do your formatting using the hubpages capsule tools. Less to go wrong that way.
