Gahh. Trying to make a referral link on my profile page.

I have been looking at hubs about referral trackers, but the hubs I've seen  mostly explain what they are and how to code them. So I know what they are now, but -- I do not know how to code. At all. Have never, ever done it. Not even anything simple. Never. Ever. Despite this, is it possible for me to put a link on my profile page like everyone else has, inviting people to sign up? Can I use the little link button instead of typing in code?

I went into edit mode on my profile, typed in and highlighted a "Click to join" message, then clicked on the little link symbol. Then a window asked for a URL. Instead of a url, I entered my referral tracker code. The link turned blue, so does that mean I did it right?

I'm thinking I did it wrong, since the referral tracker code is not a URL. I clicked on it but it just took me to my profile page. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Smart and fun all you have to do is
http://smartandfun.hubpages.com/ _yourtracker /user/new and you are done
edit your profile link it into your profile.
      Hope this helps.
      Edit
the underscore before the tracker is a must.

You're almost there.  You did everything right, except the URL should look like the below:

      http://hubpages.com/{code}/user/new

where {code} is whatever code is your referral tracker code.

What parentsreview said. It's perfect but you just need to change the URL. smile

Without an underscore before the URL tracker, it won't work.

Yes that too. Too used to wearing my non-newbie-think brain. Or chase two screaming kids. Either way. smile

Yesssss! It took me three tries, but I finally got it right, thanks to all of you! Thank you so much for helping the hopeless computer idiot. I have been so intimidated by the whole coding thing. I still don't know how to code, but I can copy/paste, and thanks to all of you I finally copy/pasted exactly the perfect combination of letters, numbers, slashes and underscores.

My next goal is to learn how to make my own referral codes, then it's how to use my own advice and make the links in my hubs open a new window. LOL, we'll see. I'll probably be back on the forums begging and whining for step-by-step directions.

    Thanks again, everyone.

You should probably remove the word "yourtracker" from your sign-up link, since I that word is probably not a part of your tracker.
