captions or text area in video capsules

I would love to see an area for text or at least a caption added to the video capsules. In almost all the videos I've posted in my hubs, I've wanted to explain a little bit of this or that about what the reader is seeing. Right now my only option to do that is in giant bold type in the header, or mix the explanation in with my story. Neither is an optimal option most of the time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and there is a way to do this...

    Thank you.

I think there is a text section like you would find in the photo capsules. Go to "edit" in the video capsule and see if you find it there. I have captions under the videos I have made on HubPages. So, unless something has changed, you should have a place to add text as well.
      Hope this helps~ big_smile

Thanks K9, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm not seeing that when I go into edit a video capsule. ? I will admit I am sometimes pretty blind, though.

I must be blind too, because I can't see it either.

I agree, I would rather have a caption or text under the video than have to use the big "subtitle" above it.  Videos these days often have titles of their own, so it looks a bit silly to add another one on top.

Yes, and it really looks silly if you write two or three sentences in big bold type.

There is one!  Just click on "edit" on the HP video capsule once the video is finished uploading and you will see a box to type a description into.  You will find it between the video and the images.

Between the video and what images?

I think we may be talking about two different things.  I'm not talking about my own videos in the special HP Video Hubs - I'm talking about videos in general, on ordinary Hubs, and I think the OP is too.

Yes, exactly. I am not uploading videos, just copying/pasting URL's from Youtube. That is the only way I know to put a video into a hub. If I can upload my own videos straight from my computer I would love to be able to do that, also. I've only used one of my own videos so far, and I posted it on Youtube first so I could copy it over to my hub. Is there another method? Not to hijack my own thread, LOL. I still would like the ability to write a caption or short paragraph next to each video that I put in a hub.

Oh!  Sorry.  I misunderstood.  Yeah, that would be a great feature.  I guess you could just put a text capsule underneath and change it to "paragraph" or "header 4" type to differentiate from other text.  You could also change the background color when placing it on the right side.

Also, to answer your upload question, check this out: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/93831

Thanks, brittanytodd, for helping me learn how to upload videos from my computer. I just tried it and was actually able to do it! (That's exciting to me because I am technologically challenged). However, again please correct me if I'm wrong, it looks as though these uploaded videos can only be used in one of the new HP videos and not a video placed within a regular hub. Having two separate types of video capsules with different features and usage reqirements is confusing me!

As far as I know, you're right.

Personally, I'm not totally convinced about the benefits of uploading your video to HubPages and nowhere else.  If you upload it on Youtube you can get views there, too - and when you embed it in your Hub, you get a free backlink on Youtube.

You're right.  You can only do it by making a video hub and having it at the top of the hub.  I'm glad I could help you find out how to do it.  I just made two with a video and it really seems beneficial as far as views go.

I think that would be useful, as well.
