    I thought it was particularly interesting to note that 'smart people' know how to use shortcuts-- and this is what can trip them up.  (I'm not surprised that you two were the first to comment.)

    I love Jonah Lehrer's writing.  His book How We Decide is one of my all-time-favorite books.  I am thrilled to find this blog, and I plan to check it out often.

    In particular, I was taken by this paragraph in the article {condensed}:

    "Perhaps our most dangerous bias is that we naturally assume that everyone else is more susceptible to thinking errors, a tendency known as the “bias blind spot.” ...{I}t applies to every single bias under consideration.... In each instance, we readily forgive our own minds but look harshly upon the minds of other people."

    I know it's true about me, and I notice it in the forums very frequently!
