Different days in Dec.(first half)

After a long gap I am submitting this third article in the series.In last two articles IExplained the importance of october.In this article Iwish to tell about the importance of each day in December.

1911-Gateway of India(at Mumbai)was readied to receive King George of U.K. and Queen Mary.

1942-Atomic power was discovered

1942-Aurovino Ashram at Pondicherry was foundedat Pondichery in India.


1884-Dr,Babu Rajendra Prasad, First president of Republic of India, was born.

1984-Bhopal gas leak tragedy in India.The American Company-Union Carbide was responsible for it. Thousands of people were killed. Even now, sufferers are not compensated.


Lord William Bentinck issued orders abolishing 'sati' system in india.

'NAVY DAY' observed in India


1950-Maharshi Aurovindo Ghosh- the poet philosopher,and educastionist of India, died.

1956- Death of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar

1941-Attack on pearl harbour by air forces of Japan

1947 -Observed as 'Armed Forces flag day ' .

December 8

1967- India's first submarine 'Kalvari' getscommissioned.

December 9

1900 - First Davis cup tennis match started.

1879- C.Rajagopalchari,First Indian Govrner General, was born. He translated Indian epics-Ramayana and Mahabharatha-into English.

1953-Birth of Vijay Amrithraj, famous tennis player from India.

2000- George W Bush Junior, was elected president of U.S.A

1950-Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Famous freedom fighter, and first Home minister of India, passes away.
